PA: I'm running like 8 games at once, I will probably do stuff by mistake. I think I'll start writing down to keep track of stuff
That's the number of meeple you have left on that turn. Off the top of my head, that increases at round 5. Maybe it's different in games with different numbers of players. You can increase your meeple count by finishing the lieutenant warfare quest. There is an ambassador building as well which gives you an extra meeple at the start of your next round. There is an arcana (?) quest which allows you to take back a meeple every turn. There are a few intrigue cards that allow you to take back meeple too. There might be more. I made the mistake of starting a 1 hour game with 5 people. One guy took 12 minutes to take his first turn, probably playing the 5 other games he has on the go. Another player has taken twenty minutes and not moved yet. Yawn.......
Oh I see. I was misled by the diamond shaped icon and thought it was some other kind of counter. Gold is represented by a square with a circle, but for some reason Playdek shows it as a diamond with a circle for buildings. Inconsistent. How about for Quest cards? Some of the rewards show a big + (plus) sign. What does that mean?
New Update - What's New in Version 1.0.1: Fixed issue with games list Tutorial bug fix Stats display issue fixed UI improvements
Updated... Did you notice any obvious differences? What were the UI improvements? It looked the same to me...
I'm not sure if those big pluses are just on all Plot Quests (a slightly darker border, usually minimal VP awarded on completion BUT will have a cool continuous effect for the rest of the game) or possibly any of the cards that have a reward that simply can't be summed up easily with an icon (+ = Read card for extra details).
Question: what is the second category during points calculation (background with gold on it)? Buildings? I find the AI simply loves all the high reward quests (who ain't), but some how I wonder how it gets so many purple cubes from. Still can't close the 40+ points gap against the Easy AI
During the point calculation it says at the top of the screen what the points are for, I think you mean the amount of gold you have in the bank. 2 gold gives you one vp (rounded down!) it took me a few games to spot that. The biggest flaw I can see in the AI is that it puts a low priority on its lords special abilities. Most games I win because I focus on getting that +4 per quest, and the AI ends up with less than half it's quests giving bonus points. It's exciting to always win right at the end though!
Game Impressions Instant buy for me. Never played the physical board game but enjoyed the Tabletop video of LoW with Felicia Day and Patrick Rothfuss (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7DvEIfrP84). Been playing 4 player games with three different AIs. There's a lot of luck involved in the game; do other lords have the same special quests you have? Do they want the same assets? Who are they going to give their mandatory quests to? Intrigue cards are the key to victory, it seems. Games with the AI are quick and breezy. Hope they add the expansion at a later date. Good job Playdek!
I sometimes wonder if the AI players are trying to be a bit mysterious in their quest choices, "I've just completed a Commerce, Arcana, and Warfare quest so far, so which ones am I really collecting bonuses on?" Whereas I'm more of the, "Did you already guess I'm all about Warfare and Piety quests, good for you, now get out of my way."
So....I just bought the game (great first impression) but I have a problem. It was ages since I played Ascension or any other Playdek game for the matter, so I created for first time a Playdek account. Is it normal that now I can't see anymore my Gamecenter friends? Do I really have to add them manually with their Pkaydek accounts????
Playdek account != GameCenter You have to add people you'd like to play. If they have the game you will see their avatar. You can add either by the username or email.
If you log in to any of our older games that haven't been updated to use the Playdek login, it will attempt to populate your Playdek friends list from your Game Center friends. The games that do this are Nightfall, Fluxx, Penny Arcade, and Food Fight. If you've already purchased one of them, it will save you some time.
My Playdek ID is "currymutton" Edit: Thanks for all the answers. I find there is no ETO rating in this one and some how, unrelated, this is more popular than Agricola in my circle of GC friends. It may be the next most played MP after Ascension.
Thanks, that did the trick!!! (I used Nightfall). I do not understand how Nightfall did this, considering I didn't gave him my new Pkaydek credentials....so I assume in your servers you already linked my GC nick to my new Playdek credentials (if this is the case...I would suggest you populate the friend list with any game then...it was a bit if a shock loading Ascension after so long and finding no friends there). Anyway, while not a worker placement fan, I'm really liking Lords of Waterdeep, great work.
I am simply addicted to this game. Currently in 6-7 concurrent games with ednan, skarsnik, lord gek and some others. Great job Playdek! This might just be the next big thing after Ascension.
Damn it Playdek... Surely you've made enough money on your games by now to implement persistent, in-game chat (e.g. Carcassonne)?! Seriously hampers the enjoyment of asynchronous play for board games like these.
When I asked them about this they said that was something they wanted to implement. Too vague. I doubt this will happen so fast. We could find a place to make a chatroom.
Interesting game. Reminds me somewhat of other card games like Citadels, in a good sense. The AI is surprisingly tough, with me having ranked last or 2nd last so far (on easy settings). Only problem so far is with the AI processing events so quickly, it's quite hard for me to keep track of everything that's happening. Still, money well spent.
