Apple needs to get their act together and quick, if they continue to ignore the small indie developer they're gonna start losing their support. And I believe it is the indies that have made the app store such a huge success.
Well iTunes now has proper iPhone and iPad stores, each with their own featured sections, top 100 lists, etc, hopefully those changes are coming to the app store on the actual iPad as well...
I'll wait it out...I'm sure the system now is basically part of a sweetheart deal with some of their featured apps to give them launch prominence and focus, while the indie's aren't taking away from the earlier adopter sales. Soon it'll open up into the floodgates again.
I know this is a stupid question, but where exactly is the category tab on the computer one. Because whenever I go look at a category, I just open an app in that category, then look at the path at the top then click the link. I know, stupid me.
Nobody really knows what Apple is planning, but my guess is they don't want to activate the individual category lists until they are fleshed out. Right now many categories don't even have enough to fill a top 50 section.
Looks like you can browse category top lists now in iTunes, though it can be tricky to get to. 1. Hit the App Store main page 2. Click the iPad tab at the top 3. Click the "Games" shortcut in the right top box 4. Scroll down and click the category on the bottom right 5. Click your favorite top list
Did you even email us (anyone) that it was out? This was news to me just now (that it was out). Downloading now... arn
I honestly thought there were only around 50 games available on the app store when I got my iPad on launch day
We did a press release last week. However, unless you search for one of our keywords you would never find it.
Every day there are hundreds more flinging themselves at the app store... they can build a mighty tower on the bodies of indies. I wonder if the only reason they allowed indies in the first place was to get enough market share to attract the big players. It's looking more and more like they want to freeze us out entirely.... especially with the middleware ban.
Big companies have middleware in their apps too nonetheless. So their middleware ban is going to annoy them too.
No, there's no way they could have planned for this because they usually have problems with getting developers. I think it was the perfect storm of factors that allowed devs to gravitate toward this platform : the initial gold rush stories, low barrier of entry, and digital distribution. This could have been easily a repeat of the video game crash of 83-84 if we had to print out CDs for distribution.
