Fail. "The Cloak" should be called "The Fail."

It weighs "about a pound." Uh, part of the iPad's sexiness comes from it's smooth contours and light weight (1.5 lbs). This DEFEATS that.

The Apple case is 6.1 ozs. Still too heavy, but it works well.

If you create a tablet that, when combined with a case, is more than 2 lbs, you've failed.

I like the Apple case, but I'm not in love with it. It's okay for 6 ozs, but it seems badly over priced. Early adopter curse... but I like the design, and I hope more people steal the basics from it and improve materials.

I sort of like the texture actually, but people are correct, the hard edges are annoying. You really first have to decide what level of protection you want.

I basically just wanted a very light case, that I never have to remove, and has a lid I can close to keep objects in my messenger bag from directly hitting the display. I use the angle/bracket feature infrequently, but it comes in handy.

I actually took scissors and trimmed away the material around the speaker (it didn't really obscure it too much, but I think every bit helps), and removed some of the thick edging around the whole display - about half the seam. It handles a bit better.

I've also removed the case only once since launch, and washed the case in a sink with dish detergent, rinsed well, and let it dry. Looked like new when I slipped it back on in the morning. I think it picked up some oil and grit from my desk and hands, but wiping with a damp cloth really is probably all most people need. I'm just anal.

Now, because I use my iPad sooooo much and fiddle with it all the time, I went ahead and really trimmed down the hard edge around upper right corner near the volume/sleep buttons. I then took a strong, small needle with some black coat-button thread (polyester, strong stuff) and stitched it back together with no seam. I might do the rest of the perimeter. This will give me a nice, rubbery, perfect fitting slip case + stand, with a simple screen flip protect, and a nice texture around the edge.

I like it. And I'll give the market a while to develop and probably try something else.

What I REALLY want is a very thin and light, front-plate cover for my Apple Aluminum Bluetooth Keyboard (which is what I'm typing on now). I've been taking mine with me and my iPad frequently. I had to make a plastic cover for the power button to keep it from accidentally getting turned on in my bag. Holding the button down for a few seconds turns it off; I quick tap turns it back on.

I had the apple case and it's terrible. It's flimsy, the cover touches the screen when closed, and I tore a rip on it from periodically taking in and out of the case. I think the idea of the case is to go for a minimalist look without adding bulk but to me it's more like a weak sleeve. After browsing some youtube videos for apple cases I finally settled with this one

and it works great. The cover doesn't touch the screen and the iPad can easily slip in and out of it. The downside to this case (other than it being 20 bucks more than the Apple case) is that it's IMPOSSIBLE to find anywhere in stores right now. I think people quickly realized that this was the best case to get and incase can't keep up with the demand. I bought mine on ebay for 45 dollars because the person went with another case :)
