there is a growing number of companies following the LLC pattern on the app store, and im noticing a strange resemblance between apps they produce and apps of similar gameplay from other companies. The only difference is LLC companies have a slightly different quality to their apps then the counterpart.

Coincidence? Go ahead and discuss. Im not flaming LLC's, just bringing attention to this.

    Examples:

    Atrium LLC
    Eyedip LLC
    Subatomic Studios LLC
    mFluent LLC
    MacPhun LLC
    Digital Smoke LLC
    Fictorial LLC
    Wizag LLC
    Fuzzy Peach LLC

In no way am i bashing (or endorsing) these companies, these are only some random examples of the LLC pattern growing on the app store

ah i see do we have any others, i see his point about the apps though all the clones seem to be watering down the app store IMO makes the good ones harder to find in some ways i wish apple would be more exclusive but that what makes the app store great it inclusiveness...

i agree that all of my posts center around pocket god and partially Pocket devil, but there are other examples as well. This wasnt intended to be centered around that subject at all.

It's not much of a coincedence that the LLc's are smaller companies and therefore make games on a smaller budget. LLC or limited liability company only means that if they get sued the owner of the co. Mostly the main programmer can't get sued for everything he owns if the company goes under. Most smaller dev's don't have the finances for a huge legal dept. like that of a bigger company.

ah i see. That makes sense. So LLC companies are indie app developers in this case?

Im wondering if each company might be run under several different larger companies, the article i posted mentions "alter egos".....

Yeah, LLC is simply a particular operating structure for small businesses. It has everything to do with accounting and tax regulations and nothing to do with apps. It offers liability protection for owners while also providing a great deal of economic flexibility.
