Ehh maybe I won't bother then. I started the free version of Dreamland, and I find the HOG parts so silly/boring. I eventually just ended up tapping all over the screen to find the items. And it worked! I like the whole atmosphere of the game, though, so I may buy the full version if the HOGs don't get to me.
I assume you're talking about the game from Nevosoft. If you haven't played any of the Big Fish games, I'd still give them a chance. I think a few of them have free versions. They tend to be a lot better in the HoG department than Nevosoft games do. Of course if you simply don't like hunting for objects within a scene then you won't enjoy them no matter what, but I know while the concept seemed silly to me at first I soon grew to love that style of game play. Of course I still think true adventures are better, but as you know it's so hard to find a good one these days. I really can't wait for Telltale to release the new King's Quest game...
I think HOG games are just no fun on a small iPhone screen. And I dunno, I find them a bit pointless. I don't mind one here and there, but I don't want whole games of HO. Playing Broken Sword 2 over the weekend gave me a craving for some more quality games like that. I forgot how great that series is. And long! Too bad we don't see much of that made specifically for iOS.
Gah!!! I played around with that puzzle in the Passenger and managers to solve it again, but not take a screen cap! Ugh. Edit: just played through and got it! Gonna go upload the photo lol.
I hear you. The iOS platform seems like a great place for adventure games, but no one appears to be interested in developing them. I would suppose from a scripting perspective they are probably one of the harder genres to handle due to the immense amount of story and dialog required for a good one. Oops
Ok Eric -- if you're still stuck, I posted a screenshot of the second bulb. Edit: Nevermind, just realized you were stuck on the other puzzle. Oops!
Thanks, but I got past that part. Like I said, I'm on the Simon type game now. Just haven't had the chance yet to go back and see if I can beat that one.
No, awakening- Moonfell woods is mostly adventure along with nightmare adventure- witches prison. Trust me, if it were all HOG, I wouldn't be a fan. Oh and A witches curse is great. For $0.99 you can't go wrong!!!! I'll buy you a $3.00 game if you hate them and feel they are all HOG. Also, Midnight Mysteries: Salem Witch Trials is amazing! Not sure if it's still on sale.
I'll admit that I'm not all that far through Moonfell Woods yet, but I thought Dreamless Castle had a lot of HoG in it. It has been a while, though. Either way I found Dreamless Castle to be quite an entertaining game. In fact, so far I actually like it better than Moonfell Woods.
Lol alright I'll take your word for it. Too bad some others are iPad only. Just bought the two Awakenings.
Empress of the Deep 2: Song of the Blue Whales is out for the iPhone/iPod and is on the Big Fish Games $.99 sale. When it was released on the PC and iPad it was very well reviewed. URL is for appshopper since I am on my iPod. http://appshopper.com/games/empress-of-the-deep-2-song-of-the-blue-whale
Appunwrapper, You've probably already seen/played them, but TellTale released new Monkey Island games and a new Law & Order game just before the holidays.
I wasn't very impressed w the Empress of the Deep series. Moonfell Wood and the Witches Prison are some of my favs. A Witches Curse is good too!
Well, you talked me into it Bought Blake and Mortimer - The Curse Of The Thirty Denarii - HD while I was at it too. Anyone tried that one? I just realized it was from Anuman, and I wasn't overly impressed with XIII, so I hope it's better.
The Money Island games are just the iPhone versions of the iPad ones that came out a while back. [Edit] Speaking of Telltale, Jurassic Park: The Game 2 HD came out if you're lucky enough to have an iPad 2.
Just downloaded the last few big fish games that I didn't have. Don't know how they slipped past me. Finally finished Broken Sword. Looking forward to the second one. Played the first one on playstation ages ago so a lot of it was familiar but haven't played the second one at all
Did you pay full price for the first one? I also played it on my PC years ago, so I've been holding out for a sale. And still waiting for TinTin to drop to 99 cents
You need to get some kind of app that notifies you of sales. The first Broken Sword has been on sale 2-3 times, and it was even free once!
