Believe me, I was very excited to get my hands on Beneath A Steel Sky. The problem was that I got stuck in the game almost right away. I don't know if it's because I missed something obvious or what happened, but I have this thing about not being able to make somewhat steady progress. I don't mind if a game gets challenging later on, but I shouldn't find a game daunting from the onset. I guess I'll have to give it a try again if my schedule ever clears up.
It's pretty hard game, and that's why I love it New games, are to casual and easy for me. If you need any help with Beneath A Steel Sky, I can give you some hints
Haven't got around to playing Lechuza yet. Am playing Escape from LaVille at the moment and want to finish it before I start anything else. I am stuck but am enjoying it immensely.
Escape from LaVille is not bad. It has some nice puzzles, and graphics. But the most important thing for me in adventure games is storyline (that's way I don't like Myst), and story in Escape from LaVille is pretty poor IMHO.
We might not see eye to eye on everything, but here's something we definitely agree on I never did like Myst, and it's boggled my mind that so many people consider it one of the best "adventure" games ever made.
I did finish Myst but it was so out there that I relied heavily on walkthroughs. And to me this takes away from the enjoyment of the game.(or hints that I'm not as clever as I think I am). Will give Beneath a Steel Sky a whirl on your recommendation
I know this is for iOS stuff, but DotEmu is having a sale this weekend on Point & Click games for the PC. Here's a list: http://www.dotemu.com/en/special-weekend-on-dotemu-point-click-games-50-off. There are some pretty nifty games that you can pick up pretty cheap.
There is also Shadow Doll, described as as classic point and click. Another one to add to my ever growing list. And here was me worried that the App Store wouldn't have enough to keep me going
I actually beat you to this one Added it to the list right before I checked my email. For once I have some spare money in my iTunes account and I'm really tempted to pick this one up. It sounds pretty cool.
It does look very old school. You will have to let us all know if it is worth it. So glad I went with the iPhone and not an android phone. The amount of games available is staggering. Looking forward to The Lost City as I enjoyed Grisly Manor but it was a bit short. Should stop looking in the upcoming section as I have no patience
I agree with you on all counts about Grisly Manor, but the developer has promised that his new one will be a lot longer. Of course, if getting quality original adventure games for the iOS means they are going to be a bit shorter, I won't complain. I'll take short over none any day
Treasure Seekers #3 comes out tonight as well! (http://www.g5e.com/games/treasure_seekers_3_iphone). I hope it lives up to the other games in the series.
I'm really looking forward to this one as well. I will add it to the list as soon as there's a link to the U.S. store. I ran into this one yesterday (Detective Story: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/detective-story/id443852490?mt=8). I'm assuming this would qualify, right? I'd consider it an adventure game.
