Anyone else as desperate as me for a good adventure game in this time of lockdown? I’ve depleted my resources and am going back to playing old games. If anyone has any good suggestions, let’s get this thread going so we can survive this epidemic! Stay healthy and please social distance!

I've dug up a dozen or so games buried in the back files so to speak. Using the down time to finish them off. Currently playing Gravely Silent: House of Deadlock....lol. An oldie I know but still a fun game to me. I'm still on an iPad 4 so most current/knew games probably won't play well if at all. Seriously considering an upgrade in the near future. Stay well all.

Wow, a hidden object game? I didn't think people on this list played those kind of games :) I definitely got you beat on the "ancientness" of devices, as I am still running an iPad 2!!! I thought I'd look up that game, though, and I don't see it on the app store any more. How are you still able to play it? Did you still have it loaded on your device?

Yea, lol. Think it came out in 2011? But didn't buy it till later. Thankfully when I bought the iPad 4 new I splurged and got one with 128G so there's lots of room for all those HOG's I'd bought and also I never updated so they all work fine. Ha, I know I'm in the minority when it comes to those games on here but I delve into other types as well. Hopefully you'll be seeing a new device soon. I know I'll have to buy new as well to play the newer games but I'm going to work through what I've got. Happy gaming!!

    You bet.

Fortunately Glitch just released Great Escapes! It's their take on the room escape genre, which I also have a weakness for, and includes 3 free games with others available via IAP.

So far I am finding many of the games a bit easy - but fortunately there are a bunch of them! Some are even based on past Glitch classics...

I consider Room Escape to be a "minimalist" take on the adventure game genre :D
For anyone who likes these games, my favorite developer is Kotorinosu. All of his games are good, but for me the most accomplished is The Treasure. Other favorites are EXIT, EXIT II - The Basement, and Pixel Room. I've played each of them 5-10 times.

Other developers have mostly been hit-or-miss for me. I've liked a few from Yukihiro Hozumi, and the DOOORS series.
Anyone else have a favorite Room Escape game or developer?

Yes, I’ve played some of Kotorinusu’s games and they are very good, as well as the DOOORS series. Some other ones I’ve enjoyed are the Secret Files: Tunguska series, most ISOLAND games and games by the developer Syntaxity.

Huge reason to subscribe to Apple Arcade (if you never did before, first month is free): Beyond A Steel Sky has been released for the service a few weeks ago and I just finished it the day before yesterday.

It’s an amazing Point’n’click adventure with a very clever puzzle balance. The story is ok imo, maybe a little predictable, the inventory is also more of an afterthought.

But it really begins to shine when the hacking/scanning mechanics are introduced near the beginning which involve lots of very clever puzzles sometimes even including some rather complex chains. There are also some genius environmental puzzles. None are unlogical or too hard though as long as one is paying attention and/or thinks a little out of the box once in a while.

Definitely one of the best adventures I’ve played in this area for quite a while and certainly the best from Revolution.

Very highly recommended! And if you’ve never signed up for Apple Arcade before, there probably never has been a better time. If you manage to play through the game within a month (it has an - above average - playing time of 11-14 hours but that should be manageable nonetheless :) ) you can basically play Beyond A Steel Sky for free.

As long as you cancel your subscription after the month again of course (just saying :) Can’t bring myself to quit, despite some weaknesses Arcade still stays a great idea with over 100 premium games - and counting - for 5 bucks a month. Especially when they continue to bring occasional gems like BASS)

Great Escapes Pack 3 is out :)

This pack includes three new Glitch room escape games, and unlike the previous packs these take place in familiar rooms from previous Glitch classics: Forever Lost, A Short Tale, and All That Remains.
I've played through the first and while it alas wasn't terribly challenging (if you're familiar with Glitch humor), it was a good time.

Between this and "Creaks" from Amanita Design, I have been tempted lately to try Apple Arcade.
Are any other good adventure games available from AA?

I really like Pilgrims from Amanita. It’s not extemely long but to come up with every solution/achievement you sure have to sink your teeth into it and replay it a few times. But even without that it’s pretty good, alas a bit too short.

Imo regarding other classic Point’n’Click adventures there’s not much else there, though I know quite a few people who enjoyed Tangle Tower and/or Jenny LeClu. I’m not one of them though. But at least Arcade also has some cool games from other genres.

Oh great hadn‘t realized that Truberbrook (German title Trüberbrook) has been released for iOS about 3 weeks ago. Had been looking forward to the game’s PC release (March 2019) for quite a while as it’s visuals looked very interesting, same with the story.

Everything about it screams classic PnC but alas reviews said that it’s a bit easy. And for me good brainteasers are some of the most important parts of a good Point’n’Click adventure. But for only $4.99 I’m definitely gonna give the game a go: https://toucharcade.com/link/http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id1451174691?mt=8

    New release:

    The Procession To Calvary

Spiritual successor to Four Last Things - The Point‘n‘Click adventure where everything is modeled after Renaissance paintings. Liked that one quite a lot. It could have been a bit longer but other than that it was quirky, weird, funny and offbeat with a completely unique visual style. Puzzles had a balanced difficulty level as well.

Just completed the game and it was a lot of fun. Puzzles are very well designed and after I’d solved the two, three that had me stumped for a short while it was always a "Why haven’t I figured this out sooner" moment.

Story and characters are hilarious, if you‘re a very religious person or don‘t like Monty Python style humor though the game may not be for you as no topic is safe from a joke and the dialogue can be quite crude sometimes. But for me everything that made the predecessor fun is in this game as well so I can definitely recommend it - Or both, if you haven’t played the first one yet :)
