The Lone Survivor - New adventure game by Midnight Adventures https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-lone-survivor-adventure/id1410850370?mt=8
I did and I enjoyed them. But I suggest you try the free Cube Escape games and see if they're to your liking. They share a common setting and by the time I finished the Cube games, I was so interested in the whole story and mythos, that I had to buy the 3 rusty lake games
I played the cube escape games and enjoyed them. I didn’t enjoy the Rusty Lake game I purchased lol I’ve been playing room escape games until a good adventure game comes out
Hidden my game by mom 3 (by hap Inc.) https://toucharcade.com/community/threads/hidden-my-game-by-mom-3-by-hap-inc.322523/ The Engrish aside, it's a pretty fun game with some very unique levels. Ad-supported, you can probably beat in under an hour or so. Still worth checking out IMO. Parts 1 and 2 are also available for free.
Hi there, new adventure from Daedalic. Pillars of the Earth Part 1: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-pillars-of-the-earth-game/id1267287230?mt=8 based on a popular book series Daedalic made quite a few great point and click adventures in the past, considered modern classics (especially in Europe). Alas, they‘ve announced a few months back that there‘s no money to be made with the genre anymore so this game is probably their last foray into it. Because of those hostile market conditions they’ve already tried something new with Pillars of the Earth in the sense that it rather is a choose your own Adventure style of game (Lighter on puzzles and more emphasis on decisions and story) instead of the classical Lucas Arts style adventures they had made before. Still, the game wasn‘t devoid of puzzles like Telltale games or LiS and I especially liked the story and historic setting. All in all, I had a pretty good time with it.
What are everyone’s favorite adventure games released in the past 2 years? BTW I could have sworn we use to be able to add games in the App Store to a wish list. I like to keep track of titles I’m interested in but not ready to purchase.
Yeah Teagan, we used to be able to “wish list” apps, which easily allowed me to keep track of devs and games that looked promising or were beyond the basic cost. Sometimes I’d completely forget I’d added a game to my list and go back and be like “oh yeah, that game...I forgot” and buy it. I had a whole ton of games in my list that for the life of me I can’t recall now.
I really hope all of the thread regulars here are playing The Eyes of Ara. For me it's easily the best classic point-and-click adventure since The Room: Old Sins, and perhaps even tops it. Probably on my all-time top ten list for iOS. It's a nice long game too, I've logged ~8 hours so far and the end isn't yet in sight. It's easily worth the asking price. Hat tip to App Unwrapper for championing this one, it really deserves more attention.
Unfortunately I am not, because my device does not support it. I might just have to break down and buy it steam though.
I think someone mentioned Harvey's New Eyes not too long ago, and it's finally available on the App Store. I played the first one and really enjoyed what I got through (it was a long game that I never finished), so I would expect good things from this one. Of course it doesn't run on my device, but you all have at it By the way, I can't believe we've been doing this thread for 7 years now!!!
Just came here wanting to post about this release. I‘m superglad this great adventure finally made it to the App Store! Tbh didn‘t think Daedalic would release any more of their point and click catalogue to the App Store after having left the genre for good a few months ago (plus the release of Deponia on iOS didn‘t seem to enjoy huge success) so this is a very pleasant surprise. Can wholeheartedly recommend Harvey‘s New Eyes to everybody who likes funny, clever point‘n‘click adventures in the vein of the old Lucas Arts classics.
Odysseus Kosmos Episode 2 also got released to iOS the day before yesterday! Enjoyed episode 1 very much: A classical Point’n’Click game with a funny protagonist and neatly balanced puzzle difficulty. Also, episode 3 is already on steam so it looks very good for the dev making good on his promise to release all 5 episodes in a timely manner.
It's kind of weird seeing the publisher listed as HeroCraft. They've certainly published a variety of genres over the years, but I think this is the first time they've delved into the Tap & Click adventure game arena. I still need to check this out one of these days.
If I got a Dollar everytime you say that I probably could afford a new Flat screen TV Your back catalogue must be huge, you definitely need a month (or year?) vacation for an adventure marathon
Start saving your dollars! And actually, it would be more like 10 years Granted this is on the PC, but I just installed Grim Fandango earlier this year. That one only came out in 1998
Hehe, don’t be too hard on yourself, the remaster was released 2015 I’m exactly the opposite to you, I just replayed some of my favorite adventures on iOS: Deponia, Dead Synchronicity, Thimbleweed Park and DoTT remaster (no kids - never wanted any - so guess that gives me more time for my beloved adventure genre ... And more money for new devices ) Even though I never quite clicked with Grim Fandango (had started the original since 1998 a few times but never played farther than the wood) I finally got through the Remaster 2015. After 3 years I also wanted to give that one another try after having played the other games but it’s still the same - Even though at least I played until Chapter 2 this time. I know this is a sacrilege for quite a few people but I never got warm with the game ... Not hot about the controls, the endless running around, the beautiful but empty scenes, the often pretty illogical puzzles and the clunky inventory management. Grim Fandango’s actually one of my least favorite Lucas Arts adventures. My favorite will always be Monkey Island 3 (with DoTT being close runner up) but seeing how cr@ppy Disney treated the remakes of MI 1 & 2 by pulling them from the App Store without any explanation it’s probably not gonna come to iOS anytime soon - Unless Double Fine saves us eventually.
Btw, also downloaded Stranger Cases, the screenshots on TA just looked too intriguing to resist. Positively reminds me of Agent A. Of course I’m already seeing reviews complaining that there are (removable) ads and that not the entire game is free. Only thing missing are comments like “Outrageous that the devs don’t offer free foot massages for every download” ... *sigh* at this freeloader culture that destroys quality premium gaming. I’m quite the other way around, often suspicious of and not downloading free games with iAP at all. But despite the ads (which can be removed for $0,99 and appear once every new chapter) the game starts pretty good. Levels 9 - 15 can be purchased for $2,99/€3,49 (including ad removal) which I’m pretty certain I’ll do if the quality stays the same (puzzles are a bit easy so far but I’m still not long after the beginning). It’s free, so encouraging everyone to give this one at least a try. Also, the devs definitely would deserve some sales.
And I know this is slightly off-topic/off-platform here but this is a special case: For anybody also playing on PC/Mac there is a fantastic free (!) sequel (!) to Day of the Tentacle named Return of the Tentacle. The production value of this game is insanely good. If I wouldn’t have known, I’d have never guessed it to be a fan made game! Excellent puzzles, graphics like out of the DoTT remaster and full English and German voiceovers. It has a 97% positive rating atm. It’s “just” a prologue with a playing time of 2-3hrs but it’s definitely worth it. The install file is a whopping 1GB so there’s definitely quite a bit of content. Everybody who still plays on Windows, Mac or Linux - Give this one a try guys and download it asap. The devs ask everybody to spread the word but there’s a constant danger of them receiving a Cease & Desist letter. That would be a shame as they are clearly immensely talented and even planning on releasing more of this outstanding game. But better safe than sorry, I already backupped the games install file to three different HDs - Just in case If you still have doubts just check out the first 12 gameplay minutes on YouTube:
