Thanks for the link, Gambler, and it works perfectly. It certainly looks like a decent enough game, with the only caveat being some reviews that say the game is far too short. Since I have quite the backlog of unplayed games, I will likely wait for a sale on this one.
You’re welcome PoL also sent you one, I just happened to be first And I agree about the game. Don’t have much of a backlog (at least on iOS, PC is an entirely different story ) but after remembering the Mayan Mystery game from the same series/dev which wasn’t bad but short and pretty easy I’m not so hot about this one atm, as it even has 100 MB less (which, like your comment about the reviews, doesn’t speak for a better length). Suppose waiting for a sale might be the best course of action here.
Finished the game. Relatively short and not as good as their other staff I dont think. Sorry bout link. Oops.
Thanks Gambler. Ive played most of those you listed. Thanks for listing them. I havent played inner world and unwritten though so Ill check them out.
You’re welcome If you like classical Point and Click adventures with balanced puzzles and funny stories, you’re in for a treat. TBoUT 2 (Book of Unwritten Tales 2) alone has an (for an Adventure) impressive playing time of 16-20 hours and they certainly never get boring: The game is full of whimsical characters and funny pop culture references and even though its story starts off a bit slow it goes full steam pretty quickly after you flee your first location - All in all, this is a gem and deserves all the attention it can get. Hope there are plans to also release TBoUT part 1 (Best sold PC Adventure 2009 in Germany) and the prequel The Critter Chronicles on iOS one day. Gotta give it to them, imo part 2 is the best one though. Similar assertion goes for Inner World 2 but I liked its the first part a bit better. If you hadn’t heard of that one either so far, I’d recommend starting with it There are a few excellent German (Point and Click) Adventure developers. It maybe was just a coincidence but as you haven’t heard exactly about the two games developed there, there’s maybe the off chance you don’t know some of the the Daedalic Adventures from my signature as well, like Deponia or Edna & Harvey’s Breakout. Link for Daedalic's games (All have English Audio, not all of their games are Adventures though) Anyway, let me know if you bought one of the games/how you liked it. If I think of some more or discover a newer promising game I’ll post it here of course. If you have some recent favourites despite the ones you posted playing right know, I’d also love to hear them of course (Glad you reminded me of Four Last Things). Happy adventuring
Ok just finished Four Last Things A few impressions Positives - Humorous, unique story with a serious underlying theme - Lots of funny dialogue and nutty remarks - Very special graphics - whacky NPCs, quirky main character - Easy progression, puzzles rarely gave me any pause Negatives - Easy progression, puzzles rarely gave me any pause (depending on one’s taste, this can either be a positive or a negative) - (Not only) due to that, pretty short. Most players should be through in about 2 - 3 hours max - Some people may find (certain stuff in) the game tasteless - No voice acting despite a different promise on the kickstarter page of the game (Quote: “One of the big differences between Four Last Things and my previous projects is that it will feature full voice acting. I think (...) some fun voices will really add a lot to the vibe of the game.") Conclusion: I’m not one of those mobile gamers who complain about having had to pay € 4.49 ($5.57 atm, US price is $3.99 ofc) for “only” 2 or 3 hours of gameplay, especially when the game was fun. A movie ticket costs at least twice as much and you’re usually done after 90 minutes. Still found the game too short, probably mainly because I had a blast with it. In that vein, imo the positives far outweigh the negatives. In the end it comes down to your personal preferences. I missed voice acting and found the short length rather disappointing. Most puzzles were pretty easy, solving them still was fun. All in all, despite the mentioned flaws, I’d buy it again.
Just realized I made a small error a few weeks ago assuming The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 only being available with German audio and English subtitles. That‘s almost certainly just the case for German speaking countries like mine: The game HAS English Audio (according to the App Store description AND its Steam page). I suppose because I live in a German speaking country they cut out English Audio because the game already has 2.9GB and by also having added the English localization it by far would have exceeded the App Store size limit. My educated guess is for every other country than Germany, Austria and the German speaking parts of Switzerland the English Audio version is used.
@podbud once more: The Inner World Bundle (= Part 1 & Part 2) go cheaper than buying both parts separately. I can certainly recommend both games and if they’re leaving a good first impression with you, you can save about a buck (at least it’s 1 Euro less over here in Europe) by buying both at once.
Definitely whacky. I didnt enjoy it as much as you. Its different in its visual style for sure. Im yet to finish it but its one of those games I leave for weeks and come back to. That usually indicates my interest and investment level. Whereas glitch or maple barely get a break.
Just saw that Lost Horizon 2 got released two days ago. Was excited about this at first, most reviews don’t seem too hot though.
May look like a kids game but from what I read its not. The idea of the game is really charming, from the looks of it, reminds a bit of Love You to Bits. Its apparently a puzzle adventure but its also possible to die: Paper Anne Think Ill give it a try later on.
Nice, two of the absolute best adventures of the 90s Point and Click era: Simon the Sorcerer 1 Simon the Sorcerer 2 Released yesterday, from what I’ve read apparently remakes with (optionally) better graphics, from the guy(s) who also released Flight of the Amazon Queen for iOS. Buying both parts as bundle gives you a little discount (in Western Europe it‘s €7.99 instead of €8.98 for both individually - In most cases that should translate to $6.99 instead of $7.98).
Impressions regarding Paper Anne: Game‘s not bad per se and has a cute idea but its execution gets a little monotonous with time. There are some cool ideas in it but basically 90 % of gameplay consists of moving the background around so guards can’t spot you, you don’t get hit by thrown balls, can open up a path and other things in that vein. Even with some different puzzles and minigames thrown in every now and then it get‘s a little „been there done that“ rather soon. Also you can die and have to be very quick sometimes with a not very fast moving character and mistaps happening pretty easily - Meaning there are quite a few annoying scenarios where you just gotta start a level over again too often. One of those games that sound good in theory but I’ve gotta drag myself firing it up again to try another level.
It's starting to get quiet again, so here's Escape & Avenge, a text adventure with mini-games? Could be interesting.
Today’s App Store Game of the Day (for whatever that is worth): Escape Logan Estate. Definitely looks cool though.
At least the first chapter is free I love the one 5 star review: "Okay, first off, I was not able to get all the chapters because Im not the kind of person to spend money on apps unless absolutely necessary." In other words, "I like this enough to give it 5 stars, but not enough to actually pay the developer any money for the rest of it"
Oh boy This basically sums up everything that‘s wrong with the mindset of a whole lot of mobile gamers (not to forget all the f2p crap we have to suffer through thanks to people like that) :/ Edit: His comment in other words - I want everything for free and how dare they to charge a tiny amount for all their work.
