Unfortunately I haven't really played any adventure games in a couple of weeks. There are some coming out this week, but I don't think I'm allowed to mention them until they come out. There's also one coming out in a couple of weeks that looks really cool, but again with the not mentioning thing. I'll post names and links as soon as I can.

  2. I really liked the voice acting. :) I did fast forward through some dialogue, but for the most part I was enjoying it. Kept me entertained for a good chunk of time.

Not really adventure gaming in any traditional sense but here are two recommended, gone free (for a limited time) platformer games with puzzles, story elements and beautiful artwork.

    Do an app search for:

    Nihilumbra
    Mimpi

For whatever reason I can't post links anymore

Are the Blackwell games better than Gemini Rue? I didn't much care for that game. On another note, I really, really hope episode 2 of Broken Sword comes next week as the wait has seemed endless.

I was happy to buy all three Blackwell games today, a great week for true point and click adventures.

Also, Hellraid: The Escape, appears to have some good puzzle elements, bought that too.

Wow, good to see this thread is still going! I've been working on a new adventure title since the beginning of the year. It's called Cryptic Escape and it's based in a medieval dungeon. I posted a preview thread over at http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=236295

I hope to have it released sometime in July/August. Just thought I'd let you guys know. Check it out if you have time :)

Looks very good, good luck with it.

  10. So... Broken Sword 5 Ep2 is out. And Secret Files Tunguska. Both HUGE games. I wish Apple took their devices more seriously when it comes to gaming and gave us a sure-fire way to back up and delete games. :(

Ah, you beat me to the punch. But, here are links:

    Secret Files Tunguska
    Broken Sword 5 - The Serpent's Curse

So how many episodes is Broken Sword supposed to be? I'm just trying to contemplate what the total price would wind up as should I decide to invest.

  12. I think there are only 2 episodes, but damn... Ep2 is $5.99, bringing the full game to $10.99 if you buy it today.

Apparently, that Secret Files game is the first in a trilogy of games that are currently available on PC. Anyone played it or either of the other two? If so, how are they?

So has anyone tried any of the Blackwell games yet? I'm playing Legacy right now, and honestly I'm not 100% sure I'd stick with it if I weren't working on a review. The visuals are great if you remember the old Sierra days. The interface resembles those games as well, although in this case you only have two options - look and interact. It still works well enough, though. The problem is that so far the majority of the game seems to be dialog. I'm all for dialog, but give me some items to find and puzzles to solve as well. Most of the relatively few items I've found to pick up have just resulted in more reading for me, too. I'm hoping it gets better, or that at least the other two games aren't quite so dialog intense.

Also, here's one that came out a couple of days ago that sounds kind of interesting: Sounds from Outer Space

Still haven't played it yet, and while I have no reason to doubt you I have played some really short adventure games. We'll just have to see, I guess.

In the mean time I've been playing Secret Files Tunguska, and that game is awesome! It's basically everything I was hoping for from Blackwell Legacy. The story is interesting, the characters seem pretty cool so far (though the lead character's voice is kind of whiny at times), and there's actually a game in between the dialog! The interface is very similar to Blackwell - drag your finger along the screen to find interactive objects, or tap a magnifying glass (instead of holding your finger) to reveal all hotspots. You get up to two options with an item - examine or interact. To use inventory items (bar is at the top instead of bottom) you just drag the item where you want to use it. There are still dialog trees, but instead of text options like Blackwell does you get picture icons. The main thing I don't like is inventory items interacting with each other. Dragging them back and forth along the inventory bar is sluggish, and you have to apply the the items in the right order (ex: A interacts with B, but B doesn't interact with A). Kind of silly if you ask me. Also, there is a fraction of a second loading between screens, at least on my iPad 2, which in and of itself I don't mind. Problem is the screen goes totally blank and I keep thinking the game is about to crash. Haven't had any actual technical issues, though. Overall I definitely recommend the game.
