Further in and yes, I too skipped the puzzles. Unsure what to make of it really. It's very teeny tiny.
I am quite impressed with Perils of Man as well, and I think that the reason it is free is that it is only part one of several parts, and fairly short as well. I assume that future episodes will be paid, provided that the first episode is positively received. As for Spellbind, I did complete the first four puzzles, and the journal does give some decent clues as to how to complete some of them. There are several things to do in the next area, some of which will require more thought. I will give more impressions after playing it more tomorrow. Also, I agree that I would like to see fewer mini games and more inventory puzzles.
I may go back to it some day, but given that I have so many games in my review queue, I have to make a judgement on "for fun" games rather quickly. This one lost
I'm a good way through my walkthrough for it, but currently stuck. The game is not very polished, so I can't tell if I'm missing something or I have what I need but don't realize it yet. http://www.appunwrapper.com/2014/03/10/spellbind-walkthrough-guide/
Anyone playing Spellbind? I hit a bug that has me stuck in the cave. The doorway back to the house is glitched. Wondering if anyone else encountered the bug and was able to fix it, since I do not want to start the game over.
I have continued to play Spellbind, and now have all but one candle lit on that door. I haven't run into that bug you mentioned in the cave yet, AppUnwrapper. There were a couple of the arrow safe puzzles that I completed by brute force, though, having only one arrow clue for each. Also, I have no idea how to complete the puzzle in the cave with the maze. How on earth are you supposed to know where those symbols are to be placed on the grid, when no clues whatsoever are given, as far as I can see? Although a skip puzzle option is available, I would prefer that I not have to use the skip option, and obtain the clues to complete it through the game. I don't know where those clues are, though.
If you have the " seeing eye" you can cast the spell to see a clue for directions that references the first puzzle codes/symbols = numbers...that said maybe you already did that and are just stuck on the squares board with the symbols? Have you managed to reach all four locations in the cave? For the puzzle I used skip as I hadn't seen a clue anywhere to this and can't read nor see the teeny tiny writing in any journals. Have to agree with you on the "brute force" gameplay with puzzles. I just want to finish. Which candles have you lit as I may be able to work out which one you're missing as I have all lit. The game is a bit rusty.
Yes, rusty is the correct word for the game, podbud, although I am enjoying it, and would like to finish it on my own as much as possible without resorting to the skip option to complete puzzles. As for the candles, I have all of them lit except for the second from the left. I have reached all four areas in the cave, but cannot cross the chasm in one section of the cave. I think you need the levitate spell for that, and I don't have it yet. I may still have to resort to the skip puzzle option to do that puzzle in the cave, which may open up new areas to me, but I am still looking to see if I missed some clues before doing so.
I was able to get out of the cave by completing the puzzle. I'm really not sure how you get the solution for that so I skipped it. The stones in the crypt look like they might be related, but I can't zoom in on it. Not sure if that's a bug or not. Got further into the game. I should be close to finishing, but stuck again.
I was on your site, AppUnwrapper, and someone did indeed figure out how that puzzle works, and apparently, it is a map.
I gave up on Spellbound. If a game isn't polished, I'm no longer wasting my time messing around only to get frustrated. There are too many decent games out there that demand attention
I finished it, along with my walkthrough. <sigh of relief> It was actually an interesting game, with an ending I did not expect at all. The puzzles were interesting, too. If it had better, smoother controls, it could have been a solid game.
I finished it as well, and yes, the ending took me by surprise. Even though the game was unpolished, I am not going to complain, since it was free, and the advertising was unobtrusive.
Zoom function devs! Okay seems I'm not far from finishing it. But for the detective portal I'm missing the Knight or King tile? I only got one role when I did that room. Where so I get the 3rd tile? I've opened the chest and done the Tetris puzzle already. FMG it ain't!
You will need two spells to complete the detective section, podbud. Use one spell first, and that will lead to a fairly obvious use of the other spell. I don't want to add too much more in the way of spoilers, and there is now an excellent walkthrough on AppUnwrapper 's site if you get stuck.
