Nice (aside from the multi-player, which is not my thing)! The character models remind me of Maniac Mansion in a way.

Is the Secret Castle from Platronic the one you are thinking of?

True, but in the sense of what this thread is trying to promote I wouldn't consider them adventure games. When it comes right down to it if you define things loosely enough then everything is an adventure game :)

I'm not a big fan of multiplayer either, but I might actually be willing to give this a try.

I vaguely remember this one. I wonder if it will ever come out?

I won't disagree that at all, I was just relating what I saw as his mindset, based on the types of games he listed. Of course, he hasn't said anything else, so spamming may be the sole intent.

Last post on the website was June 12th, hopefully. I dropped him a line to see if he can give us an update.

    What are you looking for?

  9. Oh I remember that one! Was looking forward to it.
I like the screenshot they showed there. Looks a bit like Lechuza. Kinda trippy.

  10. I checked out Lechuza, interesting comparison. I dig the art style in it though I think we're definitely a little more cartoony.

Paul emailed me for an update and I was so flattered people remember our game that I wanted to drop in with an update. The good news is the game has come very far and should be close to release. We've polished it in every area I can think of and it's significantly increased the complexity of the game and production of the story. The biggest things are:

-We've added interactive items on every level. Not abstract puzzles but interactive objects that hide image pieces that must be aligned. Many of these objects have multiple states to further complicate things ;)
-We built a scripting system that allows us to make in game story telling more interesting and dynamic. The cutscenes still use the 3D panels. The story has multiple plotlines and story arcs because I wrote it and I hate that most game stories are terribly bland and cliche.
-We created an entire tutorial level and integrated it into the story.
-We created a 3D menu system that's more fun than your average list of icons.

For better or worse we've tried to make a game to accomplish one thing; That you like it so much you tell your friends about it. There's no IAP, no endless version, deluxe upgrade, etc. Just the game and what we hope is a focused enough experience and interesting enough world that the planned sequels are worth making :)

We have a new (and final) trailer in the works with more footage and plot info. I'll post it here before I put it on our own site.

Wow. Thanks for coming over here and updating us! Sounds like quite an experience we're in for! I think I'm drooling at the thought of playing it ;). So now that you whet our appetites, do you have an estimated release date?

(As for my Lechuza comparison, it was mainly the swirls that brought it to mind. Maybe I should have compared it to a Van Gogh painting instead ;) )

Edit: Just occured to me -- will this be available on iPhone?

Fantastic update, thanks for providing it! I can't wait to see the trailer! Being IAP-less will endear you to TouchArcade.com people, that is certain. Bring on the Secret Castle!

This sounds incredible. I can't wait to get my hands on it. Between this and Forever Lost (which I'm really hoping to see another beta for soon) I think we have a lot to look forward to in the adventure game world.

So, is that a good Holy crap or a bad Holy crap? Enquiring minds want to know...

  18. Of course it's a good holy crap :p
It's gorgeous. I'm already thinking about what I'd have to delete to make room for it lol.

WOW. It's not my kind of game but it looks absolutely stunning. I might break down and give it a go when it's released.
