Depends on what you want out of it. You will be disappointed when you reach the end, because you will want more. I would also not advise looking at your watch both before and after you play, otherwise you will really be sad. However, it is an experience unlike anything else on the app store, so from that point of view I'd say it's worth 99 cents. If you've ever seen the movie The Artist, it kind of has that feel, though it never really gets as depressing as the Artist did in some spots.
I think we're talking about two different things My response was in regards to The Act, the animated comedy adventure game from Chillingo. As for Yesterday, the one that is $5, I can't answer that fairly yet since I've only played for a few minutes so far. However, based on what I have played, I would say as long as there is a bit of length to the game then it is definitely worth $5. It's probably one of the most polished adventure games I've played on my iPad yet.
Ha, at the rate we're going, Teagan's gonna finish Yesterday before we do . I would have played more, except it's competing for my attention with the final Hunger Games book. Almost through that, and then Yesterday will have my undivided attention
LOL. I'm trying to juggle iPad games (mostly at bedtime), ebooks (whole commuting on bus/subway) and hard copy books (while eating dinner) and television. It's a little easier now that regular TV season is on summer hiatus though there are a few cable shows I'm following. Though right now I'm in between games. Trying to decide on whether to buy Shattered Minds Masquerade or wait for the next BFG HOPA. I could give Moonwalls another try. For some reason I just I couldn't get into it.
New BFG in Canadian app store: Forgotten Riddles: Mayan Princess Forgotten Riddle looks like one of Blue Tea Games' earlier games. Gamezebo reviews are dated 2007. Tiger Eye : Curse Of The Riddle Box I played Tiger Eye on PC but never finished. I'll probably pick up iPad version. Warning - this one falls into the paranormal romance category which has become a huge fiction genre right now. BTW, Happy July 4th!
Never? Well, if you do decide to read, try the Hunger Games. I couldn't put it down tonight until I finished. And now I'm too mindf***ed to sleep. The last book should be on everyone's reading list. Yeah, television had been getting a bit of a rest for me since it's summer. But I started watching Mad Men... And now all the cable series start. Still, not that much. My DVR is only recording like 2-3 shows a week at the moment. As for games, I still recommend Yesterday if you haven't played it yet. But then again, I love disturbing stories that really get inside your head.
Re Tiger Eye. Now I know why I didn't finish the PC game. The graphics are not great - fuzzy and dark and the cut scenes are a bit cheesy. I will pass. Sigh. I'll just wait for the next BFG. They seem to intersperse really great new games with older not-so-great ones. I hope everyone enjoys their July 4th. I was hoping for some great sales.
I'm a sucker for crime shows so right now there's The Glades, Longmire, Rizzoli & Isles and the last season of The Closer starts next week. And for fans of quirky SF shows, the new season of Warehouse 13 starts the same time. As for Yesterday I will keep it in mind. I'm not overly fond of disturbing stories. I tend to be easily haunted and I am already sleep deprived
Looking forward to seeing new Rizzoli & Isles and Warehouse 13. But will probably be a lot later in the year or maybe next year before we see them over here. Not seen The Glades or Longmire. Maybe in the future
Okay, you got me. Never is a bit strong of a statement. Not very often might be more fair to say. I actually am interested in reading Hunger Games, but I have a few other things to finish first. I'm a huge fan of crime shows as well, but I have to say that I've been a bit disappointed in the latest season of The Glades. I haven't tried Longmire yet either, though it does look pretty interesting. Maybe I need to give it a shot. I'm just constantly waiting for the next season of my current favorite crime show, Psych. That and Monk were the perfect one-two on Friday nights for a long time.
I watch Rizzoli & Isles, Psych and loved Monk -- but more for the characters than anything else. Been so long since the last season of Warehouse 13, I already forgot what happened! I've also been watching Suits and Falling Skies, and waiting for Covert Affairs and White Collar next week. Guess I'll have plenty to watch lol.
Amen! Now that TV is reruns, I have time to read my books that have been piling up. The heat is giving me an excuse to sit inside and not feel guilty about missing a beautiful day Yesterday looks good but I saw numerous comments about it being too short. I'm sort of tired of BFG at the moment. After awhile, they all seem to blend tog as one. Except the oldies but goodies
Lololol I like Rizzoli & Isles and Covert Affairs. I also watch the Closer and Suits. However, they are not as good as The Killing (last season was sort of weak), Game of Thrones or Dexter. I also loved Girls. I wish there was another quality series coming.....Until then I will stick to my books
I wish you guys who play all these G5e and BFG games would develop a top ten list. Granted they do you give you a demo for each, but my goodness there are 150 bfg ipad games. The only two Ive played were gardenscapes and paranormal agency and they were ok I guess, but I think I would like a HOPA game more. A friend was pretty high on princess isabella a while back. Anyway, just curious what would be considered the creme of the crop. Thanks! Also I was going to just load up if BFG had a sale but I guess theya re not.
I can ever really get into the BFG games bc I don't really like HOGs much, and theirs always seem heavy on that side. Besides the fact that I don't find it very interesting, HOGs seem a bit lazy to me. Like they couldn't be bothered to come up with real puzzles.
I'm not a huge HOG fan, hence why my fav BFG games fall more into the adventure category. I don't mind a couple HOG areas but the game must have a good storyline. So I started Yesterday and find it extremely frustrating. There is no tutorial etc. I'm still the nerd Henry, stuck in the train w Boris. I stopped playing to go back to my book
Do you use the button that shows you everything you can interact with? I started writing a walkthrough, and although I haven't gotten very far in it, I did finish the section with Henry: http://www.appunwrapper.com/2012/06/20/yesterday-walkthrough/ Alternatively, let me know what items you have so far and I'll try to give a hint. Keep in mind, you might need to examine some things more than once to find more items What book are you reading? I feel a great need for a good book after finishing the Hunger Games trilogy.
I actually struggled a bit with Yesterday at first as well. Here's a big hint to get you started: Spoiler if you don't have the suitcase yet, check out the rubble to the left in the very first scene. There have been a couple of times where I got stuck for just a bit, but overall the game has flowed pretty smoothly for me. Honestly, I really think it's one of the best adventure games I've played on my iPad. Every time I think it's about over they throw something new at me. I'd say I probably have 2-3 hours of game time in, so I don't know what people are looking for length wise, but that seems decent to me considering that's the length of a feature film. I think people expect every game to go on and on like some of these puzzle games do, but the truth is when you have a story driven game there's only so much you can do before it needs to end. I've hardly been able to put the game down, but I'm at a point where I'd be good with it being over now.
