Hey,does anyone know the status of the Neverhood mobile port? The official facebook page isn't maintained and there hasn't been news of it at all. Did they lose the licence or something?
New game: Contagion Also, here's one in the works to keep an eye out for: Claire Mooncroft and the Lost Castle
Claire Moorcroft seems to have been upcoming forever. Following on Facebook but there never seems to be any updates Just checked Facebook and first post were June 2011
Has anyone played Flee! - Lost Memory by U Works Inc? Another one in development is 'The Haunt'. I think its the developer who did Riddenhurst and it looks like they have learnt from their mistakes
I've played Flee. I was actually enjoying it up to a point, and I'm not sure if I quit playing because I got frustrated or just had other things to do. I will say that it's not very intuitive in terms of how you find inventory items. As for The Haunt, I'm pretty sure we discussed that a few pages back on the thread I'm actually looking forward to that one, and I think you're right about the "lessons learned" thing.
Microids has 2 new 3-in-1 hidden object collections for iPhone and iPad. Here's a link to their company page in iTunes: Microids. One pack is filled with mystery games and the other has "adventure" games (yeah, I know they are technically all adventures). The bundles are $4.99 for iPhone and $7.99 for iPad, and might be a good deal if you don't have any of the individual games.
Played it when I was very young and didn't understand the concept of adventure games but really liked the claymation. Hope to have a modern mobile release so I can properly play it.
I will admit that I had not heard of it but googled it. All the websites seem to agree it was maybe coming to IOS but there looks to be no recent information. It will be a shame if it's been shelved
I've not personally played it (though I wanted to), but it seems that while it garnered some critical success that it wasn't very popular commercially. They might be struggling to come up with someone to publish or fund them to port it. I'd imagine if there needs to be any new scenework to be done that claymation might take a bit longer than normal computer animation.
I don't think many who departed Shiny Entertainment near the end of it's independent existence had reputations as being easy to work with. It may be that the Neverhood developers are having some of their past come back to haunt them. Entirely speculation on my behalf, but based on their Twitter feed, a reasonable stance, in my mind.
They should try the Kickstarter approach. There have been quite a few game projects on there lately that have managed to raise development capital rather quickly. Several of those projects are even adventure games (including a revitalized Leisure Suit Larry WITH Al Lowe, if everything I've read is to be believed).
KickStarter is really becoming a force in crowd-sourced financing. Al Lowe is definitely doing the LSL remake, he announced it in his CyberJoke mailing list. I'm extra excited over Tim Schafer/DoubleFine's KickStarter project. It seems like it will bring a new "golden age" to adventure gaming. All they need is to add Ron Gilbert to have LucasArts perfection!
I was going to TOFTT it, but at $3.99 I don't think I want to bite, especially since I saw at least two grammatical errors / typos in the screen shots alone (and given that there are so few words in the screen shots, that's not a good percentage for an adventure game). If it drops in price I might give it a go.
On a side note, Kahn Academy is quite impressive! They have an app for iPad in addition to the website. I love how you can use the iPad like a piece of paper to write out the problem. I wish I would have thought of this Ideally I would love to work for a company that designs educational apps/programs for kids. Even a simple escape game.......
BF Haunted Hotel 3 HD is on sale for $2.99 Has anyone played Gothic Masquerade? Or Midnight Mysteries Houdini? The latter I am DYING to play but at $6.99, I'm holding out.
