  1. Finished Hector 1, downloading Hector 2. Definitely got my buck's worth so far :). Glad I bought all three on sale.

    I ended up buying Gravely Silent, and so far I'm really enjoying it. Unfortunately I haven't gotten my receipt from iTunes yet, so I'm sure BFG has given away all of their copies of Stray Souls, but I still got a good game for my money.

  3. Wow Hector 2 is a lot harder than episode 1. Been trying to avoid using hints, but I may have to cave soon.

    It said the contest goes through April 4th I think. Thus, im guessing they will wait until the last day to give out Lost Souls. I'm really enjoying the game. I'm almost done. It's a long game so you def. got your $$ worth.

    The contest may go until April 4th, but since it's first come first serve there's no reason they can't dish out the freebies right away and just end the contest if all 200 have been given away.

    Don't worry - that's what I'm here for: Mosaika on TA. I still need to play The Lost City one of these days.

    Thanks Eric. And you must find time to play The Lost City, it is well worth it. FMG have got a winning formula and I hope they continue to develop games long into the future.

  9. Wow he's working much faster now. Guess he got the formula down.
    Play Lost City already -- it's such a pleasure. The gameplay is so smooth, something that many devs seem to forget is important.

    Can I ask you a question?
    I'm a developer, so my point of view is pretty much different than point of view of players.
    What are the main differences for you, between my series The Secret of Moonwall Palace, and adventure games by Fire Maple Games?
    I know that I have NPCs, and many dialogues, etc, but I'm talking about the "feeling" you have while playing those games.

    Thank you! :)

  11. I have to confess -- I haven't played yours yet ;). I did buy all of them but haven't gotten to them yet. As you can see above, I'm just now making my way through he Hector series, but hope to get to yours soon. I'll give more feed and when I have a chance to play a bit.

    But when I saw FMG games run smoothly, I'm comparing them to some other similar games that are hindered by long loading times that can ruin the experience. I don't want to name them all here, but one example is LaVille. Personally, I love games like Lost City that allow you to explore easily and seemlessly. If exploration means staring at a black screen after every tap, I get impatient and often give up on the game.

    I don know yet how yours runs because I haven't played them yet ;). But having NPCs also changes the formula a bit. For instance, I *know* when playing Broken Sword or Hector, that I need to have the time and patience to sit win it for a while, because there's a lot of dialogue. But games without dialogue should not make you wait...ever.

    @AppUnwrapper,
    Thank you very much for your opinion, I'm sure it will be helpful :)

    @FeNoMeN,
    Thank you too, but I have to say that quality of graphics depends only on what do you prefer - photos (like in FMGs games), or hand-drawn graphics (Broken, Sword, Hector, or my games).

    I don't think FMG's games are necessarily better, simply different. I will say that I enjoy the visuals a bit better in the FMG games, but I like the level of story detail in the Moonwall Palace series more. From my experience with both developers so far I find a bit of a balance issue with puzzles. For the the most part the ones in FMG games are too easy, while there were a couple in the Moonwall Palace games that didn't quite make sense even when I knew the answers. The biggest problem with the Moonwall games, though, or at least with part two, was that I had several issues with the interface, which really damped the experience for me. I don't remember ever having UI problems with Grisly Manor.

    Granted, this is all going from memory, since it's been a while since I've played any of them, but I think it about covers my experience with all the games I've played from either developer so far.

    Thank you Eric!

    BTW, I have a little news - I'm working very hard to release the last part of Moonwall Palace in early May (and I think it is possible - I have almost all graphics ready).

    Also I uploaded new updates for previous parts (with Twitter integration, Game Center Achievements, and better performance). They should be available in one week time.

    Your games have more of a story I think and this is developed in later episodes whereas the Fire Maple games have more puzzles and not really much of a story. Puzzles in both developers games are not too obscure which I like. No dialogue in FMG and going from screen to screen is very quick which means you don't mind backtracking. I found Mystery Lighthouse very annoying later in the game because the loading time was so long

  17. Ahh glad I didn't buy that one, then. I've got enough unfinished games on my phone due to long loading times.

    The puzzles were good on Lighthouse and I did enjoy it but the loading times let it down and there was a lot of going from screen to screen. If all games were the same it wouldn't be an issue but they aren't and after playing games with instant scene changes, any delay, grates

    Um, I don't think that's what Pepper2427 was saying at all. You just have to have a different mentality going into a game where there will be lots of dialog. If you don't like dialog, why not just play a puzzle game instead of an adventure game? To me an adventure game isn't really one unless it has other characters to talk to. Granted I don't want 30 minutes of dialog between each action, but I like there to be a story with my game, and the most interesting way to provide that is in talking with other NPC's.
