I've been trying to purchase Rebuild for the past 36 hours. The just had a post on the App Store Description acknowledging the issue and telling people to wait.
The jolly gang (or ranchers as I call it) is on sale for $.99 if anyone is able to download it. @app I would contact the dev and explain the situation. If the dev were aware that the app store was not working, I would assume they would lengthen their sales. Update: I went to contact dev of vampire game but it takes me to a forum page where I am required to sign up (sort of like TA). Eric, do you know the dev? I think I'm going to call apple bc I wanted that game so NOW it's affecting me lololol EDIT EDIT: tried to contact apple via express lane but they only email you I've always received a phone call for support. I tried hitting "back" to see if I could change something that would get me a call but no luck. I should be able to SPEAK to someone?!?!!! @eric any recommendations?
Unfortunately I'm not aware of any other way to get to support for this sort of thing. I've actually sent an email to both the original guy I was working with and back to support in general. I know I won't hear back from the original guy until Sunday because he didn't get back to me yesterday and he doesn't work on Friday and Saturday. I'm still waiting to hear back on my other email. I thought it was interesting that the description for Rebuild actually says that Apple is aware of this problem and they are trying to resolve it. The guy I talked to gave me no indication of that and actually almost made it sound like it was my problem. Either they lied to the developer of Rebuild or the guy I have been working with doesn't have a clue. Either way I'm not real confident the problem will be resolved soon.
I don't know the developer, but I did find their email and have sent them a note explaining the situation to see if they can do anything. Of course, even if they put it down to free again there's still no guarantee you'll be able to download it this time either. We'll see what they say, if they even respond at all.
In the Rebuild thread it said you could gift yourself the game and get it that way. You have to use a credit card to gift, rather than iTunes credit. I'm going to try that and will report back. There were also a few posts on situations where a developer put the game on sale, took it off of sale and then put it back on sale, and that took care of the issue.
Never thought of that, but even though it's only 99 cents I don't think I'll go that route. It really bugs me that I have almost 22 dollars in my account and they feel they need to use a credit card for gifting instead of my balance.
Gifting does work, I just tried it and now have Rebuild. Eric, I understand and to no small point agree with your stance. I use the iTunes cards to control what would otherwise be an outrageous acquisition spree. Having to go around that isn't the greatest situation. For me, it isn't about getting the game at a lower cost, it's about being able to play it now-I'll be the first to admit that I have profound patience issues.
I'm right with you on the patience thing. Fortunately I have so many games right now that I haven't touched yet that one more isn't going to make much of a difference. Still, I might break down and do that simply because the game sounds like a great concept and I love me some zombie killing
Here's the important part of the latest response I've received from Apple on the downloading issue: "Eric, the problem is the purchase "price" is edited before the description and that is why there is sometimes a discrepancy. If you wish you may contact the developers of these apps and explain the issue and ask them to extend the window. As there are multiple people experiencing issues with the same content. I'm happy to report the names of the apps you're having problems with our content team for further investigation, but this investigation may take two to three weeks." To me this sounds like a blow off at best. This is clearly an issue on their end, as it is ridiculous to think that simply editing fields in the wrong order could cause such a significant problem. However, it doesn't seem like they are in any hurry to resolve the problem, because a 2 to 3 week research time is quite unacceptable. I guess this is something that we are going to have to live with for the time being.
Here's a new Big Fish: Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of the Baskervilles Collector's Edition HD. I don't remember if they've had the non-collector's or non-IAP version of this on the App Store yet, but it's $4.99 IAP for a collector's edition, which I think is pretty good seeing as collector's editions of the PC versions run $13.99.
HERE IS MY BS RESPONSE.... Thank you for writing to iTunes Store Customer Support. I'm Karen and I'll be your iTunes Store Advisor for today. I understand that when you try to purchase an app, you receive a message indicating that it is being modified. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm sure you're looking forward to having this taken care of and I will be happy to assist you with this. From time to time, the iTunes Store updates the items in the catalog to ensure the highest possible quality for our customers. It's possible that the app is being updated and is therefore temporarily unavailable. Please try again in 72 hours. If you still are unable to purchase it, please let me know.
I got this response early on in my conversations with tech support as well. My response was "that's great if the developer puts the product on sale for a week, but when it's a 'one day only' bargain waiting 72 hours does me no good". Of course I'm pretty sure that comment got ignored. I would tend to agree with this statement. I'll admit that I was not quite as cordial in my reply that prompted the last email I received, but I wasn't rude either. I just pointed out that despite this being a "spotty" issue it's clearly affecting multiple developers / applications, and it would be beneficial for Apple, the developers and the customers if it got fixed as quickly as possible. His reply was that I should contact the developer because that would speed things along, but he didn't say what exactly I was supposed to tell the developer. So I guess the net result is that no progress has been made.
And now we're back to square zero. This is the latest response: "Eric, you may contact the app developer and let them know the issue you are experiencing with their app so they would investigate the issue and find the resolution to it." Now it sounds like they are making it out to be the developers' fault. I have a really bad feeling this is going to be a lose-lose situation. On the minute plus side, I was finally able to get Rebuild without having to gift it to myself
I know this is an older one, but it's still one of my favorites in terms of being "more than just a HoG". Vampire's Saga: Pandora's Box HD. I just wish I would have had an iPad instead of having to play this on the iPhone, though it was still quite fun on the smaller screen. Of course being that it's from Alawar, who knows when it will suddenly become a Big Fish game???
At least you are getting responses. I responded by saying it wasn't merely a 72 hour problem nor was it in regards to one particular game. Blah blah blah I haven't heard a word back.
