I wouldn't be to flustered yet. Still can't download it for free You must have your thing not set to ask for a confirmation when you want to buy. I actually get a message that pops up on a paid item every time asking "Are you sure?" When I get that message on a free item I know something is messed up.
I've tried purchasing it from both my computer and my iPad, and it doesn't work either place. There were a couple more that "went free" today that I wanted to get as well, and I'm having the same problem with those. Personally, I think Apple has violated a very key rule to always online business - if you're going to provide a 24/7 service, you need to have 24/7 support.
G5E will be releasing the next iteration of the Treasure Seekers series "soon": http://www.g5e.com/games/treasure_seekers_4_iphone
Yeah, I was playing Royal Trouble over the weekend, and that game is awesome! It's too bad they seem to be marketing it as a HoG, though, because it's really not.
I was just able to get it as well. It's about time! Sadly, that seems to be the way most of these things are going to go any more, regardless of whether the first chapter is free or not.
I was surprised they were charging for it in the first place. If you want to sell episodes, better give people one to try for free. Seems to work well for games like Cause of Death.
It really would be a difficult one to market to the iOS primary audience, since I doubt most of them would have been around to play the original LucasArts games (which makes me older than dirt, I suppose...). I think the only logical way to market it would be a hybrid game with HoG taking precedence over puzzles and logic.
If that's your definition than I'm older than dirt too I still have a bunch of the old Sierra Online games on 3.5" disk, and I might even still have one or two games on floppy disks!
Unfortunately I, too, am in that category. Ah well, nearer to retirement age than some and then work will not get in the way of playing
