Yes, I have the Alawar version which is the SAME as the BigFish! Someone needs to ask Alawar what is going on!! Very sketchy! The only thing I can think of is that the BigFish release is for iPhone and I'm not sure that the Alawar version was for the iPhone.???
Sorry I wasn't being clear. I agree they are the same game, both developed by Alawar (their Stargaze group, which I think is now Alawar Friday). I just added abutova's post for timing and reference that it was originally Alawar who developed and produced the game. I'm guessing that Big Fish bought the rights and will release All Revved up for the IPhone in the future.
Nope, Big Fish released both iPhone and iPad versions! Got it now. You're right, I did misunderstand you. The truth is there's no apparent indication as to why the game needed to be re-released. I just dropped a note to a contact I have with Alawar's PR firm to see if they can give me any insight. If not I'll dig around and see if I have a direct Alawar contact to go to.
Yes, it's great. I forgot that I already played it. haha However, if I remember correctly I may have run into a bug on the ipad version but don't remember if it was corrected or not. Then again I could be confusing it with another game. I do know that I played it bc I went to buy it and it showed that I already purchased it. lol
I am VERY anxious to hear what you find out. I just downloaded the ipad version (free) to see if there is any difference. Otherwise, I think this is a VERY slimy move. So those of us who purchased the Alawar version will not benefit from any updates etc.? Not cool.
I haven't even played it yet so I hope I will still be able to download it off the cloud and it will recognize that I paid for the IAP (Ithink it was an IAP anyways). I only realised it was a duplicate because it was such a weird sounding name. We will have to keep our eyes open to see if any others are re-released
Sadly, this happens a lot more often than anyone might expect. The real unfortunate thing is that sometimes there actually are good reasons, so you never know when to take it out on the developers or not. Unfortunately there's a 99% chance this won't work. While I don't have specific knowledge of how the App Store works, I'd almost bet that each application has a unique ID, and all IAP is tied to that ID. Since the game is under a new publisher it's technically a new app now, so the IAP you purchased will no longer be tied to it. Just my guess, but I'd be surprised if I was wrong on this one.
I can confirm that is the case here too (that the prior purchase of IAP from Alawar is not recognized). I tried it yesterday.
I will download the Alawar version tonight and see if the IAP still works on that. Surely Apple have a record of my purchase(Yes, you say but don't call me Shirley) so I should, in theory, be OK. Will let you know
It shows I purchased the Alawar version. Pepper, did you purchase the Alawar version? OMG Now that I downloaded the BigFish (free version) I can't find the Alawar version! grrr Okay UPDATE: When I search for the Alawar version on my iPad (not under purchased) I can find it bc it says the release date is Dec 22, 2011. However when I click on it, it is the BigFish version???? AND it shows that I would need to buy the IAP for $3.99! This is BS and I am really pizzed! I should be able to play the Alawar version!.
I purchased the Alawar version and am downloading as we speak. I will see if it recognises the IAP once it has downloaded Update : App has downloaded with no problems and I think I purchased the full version not one with an IAP but it plays ok
I sent Alawar a message but I doubt I will hear back from them. I am not purchasing another game from them unless this is resolved. I also REFUSE to pay AGAIN for a game I previously purchased. It was expensive when I purchased it. Im going to go find the date Yep, found my purchase in my account. It was lumped with about 14 other apps lololol It only lists the billing date for that lump sum of apps (July, 2011). The app was $5. grrrrr
How did you download the Alawar version? I can't even find it in the app store???? And it is not on my purchased apps list.
Pepper was probably able to find the Alawar version in purchased still because it was the full version. Apple made a big deal about how you'd be able to recover all of your purchased items with the new Purchased section in the App Store, even if the product was removed from the App Store, but it seems what they forgot to mention was that if the product simply gets replaced by the same product from a different vendor, you no longer seem to have access to it. This has been my experience, anyway. As a result, I've started keeping the IPA files of any game I might want to revisit before I delete it from my device / iTunes. Of course if you don't sync with iTunes this won't help any.
That's right. I didn't download the Big Fish version because I already had this game. Seems a bit underhand if you ask me
But I had the full alawar version and I don't see it in my purchases or the iTunes store. I see i was charged for it in my account. I'm confused.
Sorry, my bad. I thought you had the IAP version. That does seem a bit odd. Are you using the cloud, because that's how Pepper retrieved it. Maybe that makes the difference? It's so hard to tell what Apple does with the App Store these days.
I always download apps on my phone now so I don't know if that makes a difference. The list of purchased games is not always shown fully on the purchase history and I have to delete and try it again
