Thanks Eric. Never go on the laptop now so can't post links. Totally agree with your thoughts on Haunted Manor. 15 items to find for that price? I don't think so
There's a BigFish game called Haunted Manor, so my guess is they're hoping some people will accidentally buy theirs instead? I can't imagine that anyone would intentionally buy a game for $2 that says you just need to find 15 items.
I can't even get hold of the developer to get more details because he has two different web sites, depending on which game of his you're looking at, and neither one has an email address on it.
Sadly, there may be some truth to that. Unfortunately, when you look up Haunted Manor in iTunes the Big Fish one comes up and you still have to search for theirs, so if that was their intention it will most likely backfire anyway.
Hey guys, I am developing a new adventure title called Cryptic Caverns. You can check out my post here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=119959 If there are any features you want me to work in let me know. Also, would any of you be interested in beta testing Cryptic Caverns? Let me know, Thanks!
You can do ALL of those puzzles on your own very easy game! I guessed on the squid thing and got it on the first try.
Well, one of them needed that memo . But yeah, nice logical game! Needed that after that horrendous Prank House.
Snark Busters by Big Fish Games has been released. I'm sure there was another game of the same name but nothing else comes up on the App Store. Am I going mad?
Yeah, I think you're going mad Actually, this seems to be one of those cases where it was released and then re-released, though I can't imagine why since that usually happens when they go from freemium to full version. I really thought this game was released some time ago. Either way I remember playing this one on the PC and not being real impressed. Okay, I did some searching on this thread, and it looks like the answer is a bit more interesting and mysterious. In June of last year the game was published by Alawar! I wonder if they ran into problems since the published the PC version through Big Fish. Since Alawar has a strong presence on the App Store it seems odd they'd rebrand one of their games under the Big Fish label.
Yes. That's the one. Checked on my purchase history and there it is. Jura Robertson is on the old description too. Very weird but nice to know I'm not going senile
That's wrong!!! I bought it when it came out. The app store should recognize that. People could get charged twice for the same game! How can they be allowed to release it again under BigFish?! They never fixed the original bugs! The free part was the best part of the game. The rest was full of bugs odd bc it's only $.99 (BigFish version).
That's been the biggest problem with the App Store, even before IAP was introduced. There have been way too many times that I've gone to re-download something only to find out that I no longer technically "owned" it because it had been re-released. Now while it stinks, at least I get it in the case when a product switches hands from one publisher to another. What I've never understood is developers that re-release their own products under the same label. I know they are doing it mainly to try and get back on the "new & noteworthy" list again, but you can only tick off customers so much before they'll never have anything to do with you again.
There are two Snark Busters for the Mac OS/iOS platforms I think--Snark Busters: All Revved Up and Snark Busters: Welcome to the Club. Perhaps Big Fish purchased the rights to the series as it seems like it did well when it was released on iOS and they seem to like to release series of products for iOS. (thinking of all of the "give us 5 star reviews so we can build the next game" on Big Fish Products). Here is the launch post from the Community Manager for Alawar for Snark Busters: Welcome to the Club for iPhone: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=98294&highlight=snark
That was my first thought, because yes there are two Snark Busters games. However, if you follow the iTunes link in the post you mention you'll find that it's no longer available. Plus, if you look at the screen shots there are some similarities in the rooms that are pictured. I think it's the same game.
