Tetraedge (PocketPC developer of many Microids games) put out a game called Atlantis Redux at one point. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this Atlantis game or not, because I know there have been several adventure games about Atlantis, but if so I wouldn't get too excited. The premise was cool, but it was very confusing to navigate and the puzzles were obnoxious. I was trying to remember where I posted my review of the PocketPC game, but sadly that was too long ago for my brain to recall.
I think this one look interesting, but despite what the developer claims I would label this RPG, not adventure game. I'll probably be picking it up at some point. I'm sure it has to do with nostalgia as much as anything else. I will say that if this game uses block instead of freeform movement like I suspect that it does, swipe controls don't tend to work well for that anyway. It might just have been the best control configuration for the feeling the developer was trying to promote.
Probably hasn't really been discussed here because it is more of an RPG, but it definitely is a good game. I've played both the PocketPC and iPhone versions (and I'm pretty sure that I even helped beta test one of them). I also came up with the idea that spawned the expansion pack Cursed Chess Set - not to self-promote or anything
It just worked perfectly for me. There is a Big Fish iPad game thread (I don't remember the game name) saying some people were having issues with their IAP earlier but are now working.
Not too long ago a thread was added to from another forum I belong to. The discussion was whether or not people were going to buy an iPad, and I had replied at one point saying that I probably would eventually, but I really didn't see the need for one at that point. Looking back at my post now makes me chuckle, because now that I have my iPad I rarely use my iPod Touch at home, and when I do I'm often thinking "gee, I wish I had this game on my iPad"
Yes there is an iPad version that I got months ago. However a new big fish game was released today called Voodoo. The passenger is also on sale for $.99
Oh congrats! Did u finally take the plunge? Now you understand why I never play games on my iPhone or touch anymore haha
Yeah, I thought I mentioned that around here at one point. I think my wife just wanted one less person vying for her iPad, though in all fairness she rarely uses it even when she has free time. However, the main driver was Sam's Club's "18 months same as cash" offer. Can't beat a deal like that
Woot! Bestbuy.com -iTunes cards are 20% off. I just got a $25 for $20 (code emailed). I figured I would spend that regardless
Cool! I have to be careful with deals like this because it just encourages me to buy more games that I'll never get a chance to play
iPad games are more expensive so every deal helps Set a budget and wait for sales unless something is AMAZING don't buy full price. How is Chateau coming along? Oh how I wish there was a sequel! If you keep playing, you won't be able to put it down.
Believe me, waiting for deals isn't the problem. The real problem is that I have a list of way too many games I don't own yet that I want to buy, so it doesn't take me long to burn through money sitting in my account. In fact I actually bought a couple of games just a few minutes ago As for Chateau, I'm not much farther than I was before, but I had to start over because I wanted to refresh myself on chapter one. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to get the cage in the bottom of the angel statue open, but I haven't been able to get back to the game yet to explore some more. I wish they made this one native for the iPad, because I don't like the way it plasters the small iPhone resolution screen in the middle of my device and puts that big old gray border around it. Guess I'll have to settle for playing this one on my iPod
I'm on Bulkypix's press list and there hasn't been anything mentioned there yet, so if they are working on part 3 it's pretty hush-hush at this point.
