It looks very interesting. Is the object to hit the ships? Or to miss them? It looks like points are being awarded regardless. How do you set how high the fireworks are going?

Any special type of fireworks, or combo type situations possible?

    Welcome to TA..

The game description says you have to avoid them otherwise the crowd will get upset.

    Thanks for the comments!

Our initial release is designed to get you acclimated to the gameplay and mechanics. The next version will actually be incorporating more types of bonuses, more types of fireworks, and absolutely, a combo system. Also, we're accepting nighttime city photos for those who want to see their city in the game. See the site for details ( http://libertyboom.com )

The fireworks are ignited by tapping one of the four columns at the bottom - the higher you let them go, the more points you'll get. The tricky part is avoiding the aircraft, but you do have some control over those by tilting your device.

    My first impressions:

Polished production: graphics, animations, sounds, interface and music.

The online high score increases the replay value.

The gameplay itself is simple. You tap just to ignite the firework. You control the e.g. bonus speed by tilting. You have to avoid aircrafts because crowd may get upset and then it's game over.

    My suggestions:

    - add minus sign in the firework score when you e.g. hit an airplane (the color difference was not clear enough initially - a red color would be a bit clearer)

    - make the bottom spot (from where the firework was launched) blink or something (sometimes it is not so clear the launch location)

A good game perfect for a quick session (unless you are really good).

I'm a sucker for most things related to fireworks, and this game looks really interesting. I like the graphics and art style of it, and love the idea of putting on a display for people. A fun looking game, a bit different from the norm.

I'd be very interested in seeing London added as a skyline in a future update :)

    Note for iPhone 3GS owners

It was just brought to my attention that iPhone 3GS owners are experiencing a strange display bug when fireworks explode in the game. I'm actively working on a fix for this. Thanks everyone who's played the game so far, and 3GS owners, know that a fix will be imminent.

This also means anyone who would like a photo of their city in the next version of the game will need to get it submitted as soon as possible. See the site, http://libertyboom.com for details.

New version of Liberty Boom just submitted

I've just submitted a new version of Liberty Boom to Apple for review. Hoping it hits the store in the next week or so.

    A few notes:
We discovered after release that 3GS users have a pretty serious display bug that makes the game a lot harder than it should be. This is fixed in the update.

Added three new cities: Columbus, Denver, and Portland.

The fireworks look a lot cooler. And negative point explosions are now designated with a minus sign.

Also, you'll get one "Retry this level" per New Game session. That way if you bomb out in a later level you have a chance to keep going.

I'll post here and on the Liberty Boom site when the new version is approved.

    Thanks everyone!

Do you have to go to a website to see the high scores? and have you considered using openfeint ?

I'm interested but skeptical, reminds me of the release day of the PS2 and fantasia or whatever that game was called with the fireworks.

Website for Liberty Boom high scores

The high scores can be found on http://libertyboom.com or within the game on a Leader Board screen. You can filter to only your own scores as well, to see how you rank with everyone else.

We did consider using OpenFeint, but decided to roll our own high score server, as it gives us more flexibility in the long run. Thinking in terms of Plus+ or Cloudcell.

    Skepticism

Hey HipHopTouch, I can appreciate your skepticism. All our beta testers and early players have told us that Liberty Boom is really fun and addictive. I might be biased, but I agree with them.

However, since your sig says you have a 3GS, I'd actually recommend waiting a bit for the updated version of Liberty Boom we just submitted to Apple for review. We found out after launch that there's a display issue on 3GS hardware, and even though it's fixed now, we have to wait for approval on the update.

Is it alright if I let you know when the new version comes out? I'm hoping it'll be next week.
