1. It's my opinion and I have a right to freedom of speech 2. Explain how he is not a Socialist (double points for if you are able to prove that the Universal Health Care is not based on Socialist Ideals)
Aww yeah we got yourofl10 in on another political thread. Time to go make some popcorn this is going to get good.
Would someone mind explaining to me what the problem with injecting a certain amount of socialism into society is? I mean, living in Canada maybe my views are a little skewed compared to the average American political slant, but I just don't understand why "socialist" is used as an invective by Americans -- particularly conservatives. It's almost like some of you equate socialism with communism, which makes no sense. I'm not saying socialism in and of itself is a viable system, but it's entirely possible to be a democratic, capitalistic society with socialist programs. Most countries already have some -- the US included -- so what's the beef?
The top 10%'s goal is to shrink the middle class. Reagan helped them succeed at it. http://www.seeingtheforest.com/archives/2010/05/reagan_revoluti.htm http://sociology.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/wealth.html
We already have socialist ideals incorporated in our society. Double points if you are able to prove how libraries, schools, federal mail, firefighters/policemen, and medicare aren't based on socialist ideals.
1. I didn't say you didn't have you're right to freedom of speech, I just used mine, if someone thinks that white people are inferior, are they not a racist, and lastly I never said what I thought of you 2. Obama is liberal, but he is still quite central and the grand scheme of things he is very central. I never said that Health Care isn't a socialist idea, it is, equal opportunities for everyone, no matter how wealthy you are. However Obama is only undoing the huge wealth divide that has plagued America for a long time and fixing that problem which Bush made much worse. He is also making no changes to the financial system and not making any industries State owned...
Anyone who calls Obama a socialist in all seriousness shouldn't be allowed to talk in a political debate. I feel like half the republicans get their facts from Saturday Night Live. Socialism. I'd like one of you knuckleheads who hate it sooo much to define it for me. Then tell me why it's bad. I'll rattle off tons of reason why Capitalism is bad as a rebuttal.
so-cial-ism [soh-shu-liz-uhm] 1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
I wouldn't call that 'pwning'. Anybody can look up a definition... But I agree with what someone else was saying in that I don't understand the fear of socialism in this country. I mean I want a capitalist country but there are some real advantages to socialism idealogy that can still be used in a capital economy. It seems like Americans are ignorant and are simply scared of a word for no reason.
The quote you gave at the bottom of that message is an extreme view -- and frankly, a patently nutty one that suggests that utterly everything should be converted into a pure capitalist society, and if that were to happen you'd have an even wider rift between the upper class and everyone else. Whatever those people in that quote are on about, they're 'tards and they exemplify exactly the problem with politics these days. Everyone has to polarize everything into liberal/conservative ideals. The world doesn't bloody well work like that. I don't know what this top 10% wanting to shrinking the middle class has to do with socialism though, or particularly certain socialist ideals that make sense for the betterment of society as a whole.
So you're entitled to speak your opinion about politics but Hodapp's not allowed to voice his opinion about you?
