I prefer iPad over PC. Even for building levels in the Workshop. Especially using Apple Pencil. Not even it looks like I’m working, but it feels incredibly natural on top of that. And I also prefer touch controls over controller. If I wanna use controller, I’d be playing on one of my consoles instead. I love this on iPad. And I definitely recommend switching UI to low-calorie instead of Full-bodied. Makes a tons of difference! @PBSNellie there’s an option to play the game in slower mode to make it easier. I personally didn’t try it yet, but I guess playing in slow-motion is always an advantage. Although, if you’re hunting time delivery requirements, this won’t help you as the timer is still running in real-time.
@macplash thanks, got it sorted now. Those timers are quite hard to beat! Is there an info page that explains which each of those goals is for the 93 missions in the right hand side? Like level 2 shows I need to beat the timer and then some blue face picture that I have no idea what it means.
@ste86uk there’s an official wiki and some unofficial Work in progress guide on google docs, but that blue dude is hidden somewhere in each of training levels (I think). When you find him, just hit him with your rope and he changes himself to a rocket and flies away. Looks like this:
I really, really want to buy this... but can't decide on if it'll be best on Switch or iPad. It's way cheaper on the iPad but I suspect the Switch will be nicer for gameplay, though iPad probably better for level building. Anyone else facing this dilemma?! Actually maybe I get on Switch and then if I want to build, I'll double-dip given the low price on the iPad...
Playing through training campaign I came across the introduction video on our mysterious Blue dude. Enjoy:
During the gameplay hit Pause button in the upper left corner: Tapping on Adjust Touch Controls brings you here:
Fun fact: did you know the game has fully functioning local co-op multiplayer when using two controllers? Now, the last barrier is only to have some significant other next to you to play with that is equally excited about the game.
I think maybe I’ll have to proceed forward as I can’t beat those timers yet nor find the blue thing even in level 2. Maybe if I do more training I’ll learn new skills to help me out. As a player level definitely wanted me to jump and then jump off my package but I have no idea how to do that yet so had to give up.
Do NOT try to beat the times for levels until you're an expert at the game. Take that from me. You'll be in over your head before you know it and the game will be ruined for you. Same for player levels! Not an expert per se, but at least get through the training levels.
@ste86uk for relaxing experience go to the Tower and instead of Any difficulty select Cake Walk. Those are the easiest and shortest levels. When you’re comfortable with them, you can increase the search for higher difficulty. Definitely don’t chase those delivery times in training campaign. I’m like 1/3 done and didn’t get a single time badge. Just ignore that. Those are for speed runners. Even the campaign gets difficult over time. Just relax with users’ levels for now to get familiar with the controls and everything. On top of that you’ll be earning Exposure bucks so you can save and you can tip our levels when we start making any.
I would like the left side directional pad to be “touch anywhere” instead of it being stationary. Not a deal breaker.
@metalcasket @macplash thank you both, I’ll take your advice and that will help me a lot. I was starting to feel a bit overwhelmed by how hard it is when you know I like to complete every task on every level before moving on. But I’ll try and see it as a learning curve to come back to later when I have more skills. Saying that even the pieces to collect can be hard to find! @ShinHadoukin I can feel that a little as I keep putting my thumb down in the wrong place.
Made this just for you, my friend (the blue dude is in the end of the level). Hope it’s the correct level. Should be though. Check this out:
@macplash I just found the next one but I was trying to get over there but couldn’t manage it. Thanks for showing me I’ll try get over there again.
I just came here to say, I love you guys, and I hope you're having fun with the game! NOW... I go back to lurking. - Seth THE GAMES PROGRAMMER
