You're playing with Brave New Worlds? Totally different end game, I personally loved it anyway and have played all previous Civs but I know changing the formula isn't for everyone. MW for me was the best, started to get formulaic and a bit dodgy after that.
Yeah brave new Worlds, to be fair since I posted I've started a new game in an attempt to give it a proper chance and I can admit now it is growing on me the more I play it and isn't as bad as I originally thought. I think I was just originally shocked at the differences and stuff left out I was basically expecting Civ 3 with better graphics but it's changed quite a bit some things good some things not so much.
On the surface level I enjoyed the addition of hexes and something that a lot of players hated - not being able to stack units, largely because it took a lot more thought with using terrain when attacking a city or other units, added a level of strategy missing from combat previously. I'm curious to see how Civilization: Beyond Earth goes, hopefully we can see a bit more at E3
So Transistor is fantastic. I enjoyed Bastion but I'm enjoying Transistor even more. The art design and atmosphere is wonderful, the story is mysterious and compelling. But the gameplay is the best part. Just so satisfying and strategic. It plays nothing like Bastion. Real time, you're able to hold your own but vulnerable. Turn mode is a different story. Some of the reviews said it perfectly, the game has a puzzle-like vibe. Positioning, what's the best ability to use, which enemies to prioritize, how to best utilize your limited action/energy, making sure you don't find yourself exposed at the end of a turn. Refining your abilities thanks to incredibly deep function system, mixing and matching new skills and finding your favorites. I'm two hours in and enjoying the game immensely
I quite like the religion aspect that's new to me here is something fun about creating your own religion and sending missionaries off to try converting the other players cities especially when it kicks off threats and wars. Games much better than my original estimation of it although I did make a mistake picking the huge map and filling up all the ai civ slots, I always play for complete military conquest and turn the other options off and this first proper game is going to take me a long long time. As for Beyond Earth I'm actually hoping for it to be a good combination of Alpha Centauri and the newer Civ games, I'm probably wrong but that game was very fun and I loved designing my own units and all the futuristic tech. On another unrelated PC games note I was just watching the UK BBC consumer show Watchdog and apparently the next episode they are going to be naming + shaming Fifa 14 for tricking children into amassing huge charges. EA better get into damage control mode.
No, they've had a Mac version for a little while (and Linux). Steam shows that there is those versions, but the requirements haven't been updated yet. And yes I bought it. The game is fantastic! It's gets a little choppy occasionally on the old Mac mini, but runs smooth as butter on our MacBook Air.
... 2, 1 It's very much Bastion - Narration, lots of stuff happening quickly, engine, etc. But combat and story add a whole other layer, the upgrade stuff seems a lot more matured too, I also like the overload system as an incentive not to get your ass kicked.Very cool.
Agree, you may like some of the scenarios too, with the new additions the better ones feel like their own game.
Just bought sins of a solar empire rebellion I really thought it was a typical 4x game but it's more like starcraft type game in my opinion not that that is a bad thing I'm a fan of those games too and this seems like a nice mix. One really cool thing I noticed is while I was clicking about on different units I glanced at my logitech gaming keyboard and the LCD on it was showing me the units information, first game I've seen that on and I didn't even set anything up.
I'd been reading a lot of positive comments about Euro Truck Simulator 2 but I couldn't really get my head how a game where you just deliver stuff could be any fun, curiosity got the best of me though earlier today. My verdict it's actually really cool, it's a full on simulation more than it's a delivery game and the traffic and roads are very well done the trucks feel good to drive and the scenery while not the most complicated I've ever seen adds a great deal to just driving along. Add in all the little touches like night driving, saving for new trucks and parts, weather effects and actual windscreen wipers, the fact you can add your own radio stations to the game and listen to them as you drive along. Really is a nice game and one of the best sims I've seen, keeping to speed limits, following your GPS and watching your side mirrors anytime you change lanes sounds kind of dull but I'm actually enjoying it and I can now see why it's so highly rated.
FWIW GOG.com' Summer Sale will begin very soon - they just tweeted a teaser. Steam's Summer Sale dates have been leaked as from June 19 - 30.
GOG's DRM-free Summer Sale is now live, until June 20. They have most everything at least 50% off with deeper discounted daily bundle deals (i.e. 10 Dungeons/Dragons games for $21) and hourly flash items. Some great prices. www.gog.com
I got it for my PS4 but after playing for about two hours I turned off and uninstalled it. It's a quite terrible game with so many flaws and problems which is a real shame because I love open world sandbox games. Back on topic, on the PC, I'm playing Elite Dangerous beta.
Nope but I did read earlier Ubisoft allegedly made the PC version worse so they could say the new consoles were comparable seems like a pretty scummy move and unlikely to be a one off as their already advertising Farcry 4 as "same as the PC on Ultra high".
