Ever wanted to know who cleans up after you go first person shooting through a stage in some game leaving corpses and blood splatter and mess everywhere? http://youtu.be/m0KjOui1FTc On steam http://store.steampowered.com/app/246900/ its 8 bucks, in early access atm and includes a santa rampage version and a shadow warrior version of the game. I've been playing this for the last 24hrs or so, butt loads of fun heh! Pro tips : . Put hazmat containers up against a wall, that way you don't knock them over when dealing with larger pieces . Laser torch can turn those big bagged corpses in to smaller easier managed chunks . You can stack buckets of water on eachother, I usually carry three at a time to save trips around the place . When youre done cleaning up, find the sign out kioske on a wall somewhere in the stage. you'll be sent back to your cleaning station. any notes around will humerously let you know what you missed. . The scanner. Blue scanes organics, Green setting scans trash. It pulses faster the closer you are to debri. Use it to make sure you miss nothing. . You can stack stuff to get to hard to reach places This game is a dream come true for anyone with OCD heh. Everything MUST be exactly in place, this I demand! -rubs fingers together-

Been playing a serious amount of stuff I missed out on over the last week or so. Games I've already got on my PC and my impressions of them. Football Manager 2014 Good game I love the 3D engine but I'm really struggling with Newcastle on very bad form because I missed any decent tranfers (still in the first season). Dirt3 To me it's just a really good graphical update of Colin McCrea rally good fun though. SouthPark Stick of Truth Pretty fun if you like the show lots of the same humour but a lot of "go here do that quests though" so pretty simple gameplay. GTA San Andreas Lots of people seem to favor this one which is why I bought it also quite cheap, seems like a good GTA although probably ridiculous I haven't played it until now Bully Scholarship Edition I like it haven't got far but yeah GTA in a school would be the best description Delta Force Xtreme 2 Older game but the only FPS I actually own at the minute I'll get some better ones later also it isn't bad and looks a lot better than it did on my old PC. Distant Worlds New computer made a big difference with this one it's basically a 4x game in realtime but now I can play much bigger universe than before so much longer games. IL-2 Sturmovik Complete Always wanted to try this flight sim I really need to buy a stick though Keyboard just doesn't cut it and graphically you can see it's age but it's really got a ton of planes and I like the multiple campaigns. The Walking Dead Eps 1-5 Read a few times how good this was but I didn't think my last PC could have handled it so I'm only getting to play them now, Think I'm almost at the end of EP1 but it is as close to playing a comic as you could get I think. So new PC's already got me playing a ton of stuff although I probably haven't played any of them long enough to really give any ratings or anything these are just my first impressions.
So I'm like seven years late to the party, but I'm finally playing Company of Heroes and it is fantastic. Seriously, the decline of WW2 games makes a geniunely good one feel so intense and exciting. The atmosphere and chaos of war is just compelling, the controls are so simple yet allow for so much depth. I was kind of expecting to be overwhelmed as I've never really played RTS games before, but gameplay-wise, CoH is easy to learn, but a strategic challenge to master.
Been playing another couple of games it's pretty ridiculous how much space 2tb actually is I've barely made a dent in it and been installing some really big games as you can tell from this post and the one a few above it. Anyway I've been playing X3 Terran Conflict/Albion Prelude and I can really see myself getting stuck on this game for a long long time I played Freelancer for years and that didn't have even half the things you can do. Probably the best Elite type game I've played since then although there is quite a steep learning curve and it takes ages to raise enough money to feel like you are getting anywhere. Second game is Sniper Elite V2 that's my latest and I always liked the look of it so had to get it now I can run it, pretty awesome and everything I thought it would be. Best sniping game I've ever came across and the slow motion kill cam is in one word awesome, I also have the kill the fuhrer DLC for this and there isn't anything quite as satisfying as landing that shot on Hitler. I'm starting to get into PC gaming so much I'm now ruling out buying a PS4 which I wanted beforehand.
Of course it helps that, barring exclusives, so many next gen titles are already available or are releasing on PC. Contrast, Octodad, Daylight, Outlast, Trials Fusion, Carmageddon: Reincarnation, Thief, Arkham Knight, Watch Dogs, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Alien: Isolation, Evolve, No Man's Sky, and many more Why get consoles when you can experience most of what they have to offer and so much more that they don't on a single platform, where games are cheaper, and sales are always competitive?
People get consoles primarily for the exclusives, I would hazard a guess and say that most console players own a PC or one or two other platforms. Why limit yourself? Each platform has its own strengths and weaknesses. As for pricing, generally that's true, but when you have services like PSN+ and some decent price cuts it becomes fairly minor if you know what you're doing.
True. I mainly use my PS3 for The Last of Us, Uncharted, and GTA V. But really, even with PSN+ and price cuts, prices on consoles can't compare in any way to the kinds of discounts I've seen on PC. Most recently, I got Arkham Origins for $9, Arkham City GOTY for $5, Tomb Raider for $7, Trials Fusion for $12. Because there are so many different online stores for PC gaming, prices and sales are way more competitive than anything on PSN or XBLA Plus through Steam and GMG, you essentially get money for playing games. Tomb Raider GOTY ($30 on PS3/360), I got for the game for $2, thanks to a combination of 75% off, an extra 20% off voucher, and $4 earned from playing games
Yeah GMG usually has some really good deals, I don't really disagree with you but here's a list of free games for 2013 http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/1rqab8/the_playstation_plus_instant_game_collection_for/ I tend to buy games on sale from in between $6 and $15, you're not wrong, but I don't think the difference is major if you use your smarts is that much. Generally no, but there are plenty of options.
Consoles are also good for avoiding Origin and Uplay. I stick with Steam for PC games, anything that's not on there can go through my PS4, including the likes of Diablo 3.
I bought a Windows 8.1 laptop recently and briefly toyed with the idea of gaming on it, but boy does it heat up fast. It hovers between 40-50 degrees celsius idling. So I bought an external cooler fan stand and now it hovers between 40-45 while doing nothing. The clincher was when I hooked it up to my Apple TV and had like 8 FPS. Turning back to iPad gaming.
What games are you trying to play? I have a mediocre non-gaming laptop (Windows 7) and I can play 95% of indies, and even some AAA games like a Tomb Raider, Deus Ex: HR, Arkham City, etc.
I thought of Counterstrike... Actually, I think the low FPS might be due to the software I am using to connect my PC to my Apple TV. I am using Air Parrot. Is there a better one?
You're trying to play PC games via beaming the video via AirPlay to your Apple TV? Just plug in directly via HDMI, you're always going to have lag and latency with AirPlay if this is what you're trying to do.
Oh, currently my Apple TV is plugged into my TV's sole HDMI port, and since it was a new laptop, I wanted to see if I could use it to play Counterstrike on TV. The low frame rate was reported by the Air Parrot software when it Airplayed my laptop's audio and video to my Apple TV. 8 FPS is just what the connection seems to be capable of. The other option is just to use the laptop's screen, but even then it might not work out well as I bought it to run Office and not for playing games, so the GPU probably sucks. Hopefully Apple TV 4 will turn out to be the video game console the rumour sites are making it out to be. Edit: In case unclear, I do not actually have Counterstrike installed. It is just showing my desktop on TV via Air Parrot's Airplay...
To prove I'm taking the idea of pc gaming somewhat seriously I just went out and bought a G510s logitech gaming keyboard , a G500s Logitech gaming mouse and to finish off my setup I picked up an Xbox controller for windows. I can see why PC gaming gets tagged as expensive after buying that lot but I love the fact I'm typing in the dark right now with my custom colour back lit keys, first time I've had a keyboard that does that let alone all it's other tricks. Also picked up a steam card and downloaded Farcry I know it's oldish but it's another one I wanted to play at the time and couldn't so now I will.
I'd guess it has to do with the AirPlay software you're using. On iOS devices (and Macs, I believe?) all the AirPlay stuff is done via hardware encoding so it's way faster and has very little overhead. I've never tried to play an actual 3D game from my Mac to my Apple TV via AirPlay, but it works more than well enough to mirror my desktop and stream video from sites that don't have an iOS or Apple TV native app. Weird software encoding and/or WiFi bandwidth issues (streaming video can saturate your WiFi, especially if you're in an urban environment with loads of networks fighting for that spectrum space) could be the culprit. If the problem is lack of HDMI ports, it's easy to fix that problem like this or this. Monoprice has tons of options if you want to get really crazy for not that much more money. I think the problem more has to do with the fact that in the PC world there isn't really a baseline. With consoles, you pay your $400-500 and you're good to go. Functionally, this $6 keyboard is essentially identical to your $80 keyboard, barring some macro functions (Which you could probably replicate with free/very cheap software) and other fluff. Without any clear "OK, this is good enough," it's super easy to go totally nuts when speccing our a PC despite barebones builds like this that let you play modern games at 1080p and 60 FPS and end up doubling your budget buying with a "Well this one is only a couple bucks more and probably a little better..." mentality. You can't do that with consoles, because it is what it is.
My son has a low-end-ish Win 8.1 laptop with i3 processor and Intel HD 4400 graphics and it does very well for the Indie games he's playing. He also tried some MMO and it was really bad for that even on lowest settings. However for games like Minecraft, Terrarria, etc, etc, it works great.
This thread needs more love for http://www.greenmangaming.com/ I've got no idea how it works, but if something isn't on sale on Steam, it's probably on sale there. This is easily my favorite part about PC gaming, you never buy anything full price. This is a pretty good subreddit to subscribe to as well- http://www.reddit.com/r/gamedeals They had an awesome deal there for codes for PC Titanfall before the game even came out for $40. I'd really be curious to see how long it takes for an "expensive" PC to end up being cheaper than consoles when you consider that you can buy basically anything you want for at least 1/3 off. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a used copy of PS4/Xbone Titanfall in six months for less than what I paid for it on PC.
