In the armory, once you max out a unit, there is a button if you talk to the gnome at the desk called legendary armor. if you click that you can upgrade your guys(say knighty) to a tier 2 knighty. He will get a new set of armor entirely and has a new upgrade screen that you can improve.
Ok, how shall i put it. I have three miners and pretty strong heroes ... But there are only two moonstones in the first 12 levels!! Either miners or else. So far I did follow all advices, but keep get slaughtered ....
My other advice. rows of elfys, then knightys, then dwarfys. Use one dwarfy to go up down lanes and throw bombs at vamps. IF you havent already upgrade your essence bar to hold more orbs. Then you can launch two bombs. This strategy works really well for the other testers. You will get another moonstone soon (a couple more actually) so start lookign at your favorite unit (knighty is a good bet) and try to max them out so ur ready for the upgrade. Good luck. And it can be a bit challenging. If it takes you more than 2 or 3 more tries to beat it we can town down the difficulty a bit.
I am replaying some levels to try to level up because I have upgraded as much as I could .... but I guess I should have focused o castle and knight instead of all heros. Update: I call it a day. By the time I have three miners, four vampires are destroying the castle already. I am going to play something else now.
That unicorn is awesome! Yes, I killed all the vampires. I will drop an entry in the feedback form about that. Soon a screenshots of it!

Nice, moving along! TIP: UPGRADE THOSE DWARFY SPECIALS. Also when you get to tier 2 elfy and dwarfy they get new specials. I though for sure you would have had a screen of the unicorn chase the rainbow level. that one is one of the best looking levels.
