You have to throw a rock that will pass through the middle tile and land on a floor witch across from that. That will close the pit on the middle tile.
That's what I keep trying to do, but my rocks (and myself) get teleported before the rock lands on the switch. Going out of my mind here. Gonna try to see if equipping the rocks as a weapon instead of pulling from my bag will help matters or make it worse.
You're probably throwing from the wrong tile. You will have to move around with the teleporters and when you get a clear vision across the pit to the switch take your throw.
Is the second video I posted above not what I'm supposed to be doing? I tried several times and got the same results -- lost rocks.
Yes, that's what you're supposed to do. But to throw faster just equip the rock onto one your party members and then throw using that action. You need to be a little faster. The next part of the puzzle will require you to be even faster.
Ok, that's what I was going to try next. I wasn't sure if it would make it better or worse (like, have the rock end up in the pit). Will give that a try. I really hate this puzzle -- I hope there aren't more like it.
I saw one on the same floor that appears to want me to press a switch on one side of the room that very briefly closes a pit on the other side of the room, where I'm supposed to press another button before the pit opens again. Was hoping I'm wrong, bc it seems impossible.
Woohoo! I did it! Some strange stuff on the other side. Also, I'm sure I won't like whatever's causing all that shaking. :/ Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
I couldn't help myself... I made it about half way into the third level, and the urge to change my party build over took me. I'm starting over now with the following: Human/Fighter Unarmed, Fist Fighter, Skilled Minotaur/Fighter Swords, Armor, Head Hunter, Skilled Lizardman/Rogue Assassin, Daggers, Agile, Skilled Insectoid/Mage Spellcraft, Ice Magic, Aura, Skilled I'm essentially making my human fighter into a monk, my minotaur figther will be a "vanilla" warrior, my rogue will be a dagger weilding backstabber once I level up his assassin reach skill, and my ice mage will be able to freeze enemies allowing my rogue to do them in from behind. > I had originally went with a missle weapon rogue with my first party build, but this build kept calling me because it just seemed more rogue like. I think I'm going to really enjoy this build! Has any one else had the same urge? LOL! I started over on EoB and Wizardry a million times, so this isn't anything new for me.
I kind of have that urge, but after finally getting past the teleportation puzzle, I don't feel like starting from scratch. That looks like a good team, though. I'm thinking of scrapping the whole bow & arrow idea and just sticking with dagger once my rogue has enough in Assassination. Btw, I really really hate spiders.
I actually started a little guide (some stuff of my own and some stuff I picked up from helpful people here). It's only got a few things so far, but focusing on what I think is most helpful. Will continue adding things: http://www.appunwrapper.com/2015/05/18/legend-of-grimrock-ios-ipad-help-tips-and-tricks/
One thing I like to do is mark every secret area I find on the map with a feather. That way I can guarantee I covered EVERY square inch of that level. I'm a completionist I can't help it. Have fun, it's an awesome game!
Nice guide! You definitely cover some of the finer points of exploring Grimrock. What do you use to record your videos btw?
Thanks! I use Reflector. But YouTube doesn't like my iPad videos and keeps messing up the sound. That's also why I shut the music (although, I'm finding the game more suspenseful without it). Btw, can someone tell me if I made a mistake and now have to go back through those teleporters? Spoiler I skipped the puzzle with the button right above the trap, and now I think I need to go back to it in order to progress. But the double doors with the gear on them won't open and that seems to be the only way to avoid the teleport puzzle again. I also have the "I require a sacrifice" gate -- I dunno if I'm supposed to kill off one of my party members? # Edit: Figured out the sacrifice part. But I think I'm still gonna be stuck going back through the teleporter puzzle.
