Canabalt and The Incident both benefited greatly from recent Retina updates. You get less interpolation and blur on an LCD screen when running at that screen's native resolution. There's some great stuff on pixel density and LCD resolution on Wikipedia. You can't just double or triple the size of an object and maintain the same fidelity without ugly filtering algorithms (see common PS1 and SNES emulators.)
I Was thinking of something more like you respawn instantly upon death, but the game doesn't start timing you until you move. That way the flow of the game isn't broken in any shape or form
"Benefited greatly"? I think you're just exaggerating, to be honest. I barely notice any significant differences after the updates. Obviously there may be slight differences, but the differences are probably so small that I don't notice them and they don't stop me from playing the game. It's definitely not something to complain about, especially for a game with pixel art.
I LOVE this game. The first time I saw it in the Upcoming Games forum, it was an instant buy, even though I was wary of the controls. Fortunately, they are fantastic. This is without a doubt THE platforming game for the iOS. Things I'd love to see: -Instant Spawn. I love this idea just as I did in Super Meat Boy, and I think it's clever to not have the time start until you move as mentioned above. -I found some levels to be hard, but most of them were easy, but I'm glad you're adding a hardcore level pack. -Multiplayer. I've always dreamed of a pixel platform game with multiplayer with game modes and such. That would make this my favorite game ever. -This is just something fun if it could be done. Have a crossover with other popular pixel games, such as Incident and Canabalt. Have them as unlockable characters with cool power-ups? They could be used in multiplayer as well. Those are just suggestions and ideas, and cannot wait to see what's added in the future. EDIT: Only 3 and a half? C'mon TA, it's better than that.
So I've been grinding too get 100%, and is anyone else experiencing a bug where once you get all stars most of your briefcases disappear for that page? I think it's either that or recollecting a briefcase does it. Hopefully the devs will patch this.
IF you get three stars and a briefcase then go play again and get a better time without a briefcase you lose the briefcase i hope this gets fixed. I had 90% of the brief cases and three stars and lost them last night when trying to do a speed run .
Agreed. I had about 70% of the briefcases and decided to let my friend try the game. I think you know what happens next. He plays through almost the first two pages of levels without getting the briefcases, so I had to go back and get them. Please fix this.
Great to see that there's an update coming. You should also add a couple extra achievements that help boost the replay value of the game.
I just thought of another feature I'd like to see; when you want to restart a level you need to open the menu, and that really slows things down. I think making it so that tapping the timer, in the top-right corner, restarts the level could really speed things up.
Has anyone suggested online multiplayer? Like racing each other to see who gets to the scientist first?
I really like this game and I got through it really fast. Most of the comments are absolutely right. It would be awesome to have more - extreme - levels, more things to customize (perhaps a level editor) and a challenging system like hookchamp would be so cool! I am so looking forward to an update.
A couple of things being added to the update include: - Briefcase bug fix! - Auto level restart (setting via the Settings pane)
With the auto level restart is there any chance that you could add it in so that the timer didn't start till you started moving?
yes, yes, yes and a thousand times yes Great responsive controls 60 levels of awesome plataforming New levels and features will be added by the the developer
