Actually, how about making a free level editor app, where people can create and play their own levels for free and can share, but you pay an iap to download levels.
There is a lot more that needs to happen behind the scenes beyond user created content. We will be sending the maps to a server we pay for, and have costs associated with providing these maps to the community! We are not committing to any specific pricing model at the moment. Again, we are still developing the technology and infrastructure. Once this is in place, we will be working on the best way to please both our gamers and also make it feasible to continue adding to League of Evil! This is a model we are leaning towards. We want people to create maps without a problem! Go nuts, make and play your own maps and even share your maps with others. However, if you want more content created by others for League of Evil...you can pay for a subscription or buy credits to snag maps or packs etc. Like the previous response though, we aren't committing to any specific model at the moment.
Did any of you repeat a certain level multiple times to finish the kill 500 achievement? Much appreciated if someone could point me to a particular level with a high enemy count.
It's definitely a tough call, considering you have to pay for the servers and whatnot like you said. But I really can't see myself wanting to pay money for level packs that other people made (not only for the fact that the quality may not be that great, with or without the rating system, but also because it feels weird paying money when the people who actually made the level did it for for free). I can't see myself wanting to pay a subscription either... I really think paying a one-time fee to unlock the user-generated content and/or level editor is the way to go. However, like I said, I understand it's tough to make money to pay for servers and all that. I wish you luck with this process, and please, whatever you do, do NOT make this a separate app!
would there be any way to make it so that the movable objects + enemies don't start moving until the user starts the level/presses a button? I think this would make for more thought out levels when it comes to fastest times and what-not... just a suggestion... I don't know what all it would take for you guys to implement that option... or how hard it would be... but I'd love to see it!
They have to make it a separate app if they want more users creating levels (a free app). Then those who pay will get to download other people's levels. I would prefer it if it was another app personally. That way when I finish all the levels I can delete game and still keep downloading user levels from a separate app.
I see your point about having more people if it's a separate free app, but at the same time it'd be really annoying having two separate apps taking up space for one game. I'd like to just boot up league of evil and play the official levels and download user levels in the same place, personally. Maybe they could do it both ways and add the level editor to the current game as a free update, but also release it for free as a separate app? Then unlocking the ability to download and share levels with an IAP perhaps... Also, I've seen other people bring this up before but I'm not sure if the devs have commented... is there going to be an update to fix the time lag after winning a level?
Hmmm... I guess it's just funky on my device then. Not too big a deal, it makes me try even harder. Great game anyway!
Well, I can definitely confirm it's happening too... it jumps by a second. But not to worry, this game is still amazing I can't wait for the next content update!
Can someone point me to the level that is currently the largest level? i want to get a feel for how big a level can be. Was really hoping for an option to get a much larger level in there if need be when editing. I have a vision for a level with awesome jumps climbing up that if not time right can drop you way down. Also have a vision of a thin long level as well. Devs, please consider expanding level size to accommodate if possible. Thanks. Can't wait!
Level editor should provide nearly unlimited levels but we also plan on the oriental themed levels coming directly from us. We don't want to allow for larger levels since we'll run into the issue of people wanting "checkpoints". This would break the gameplay design we have of "short bite sized levels". Maybe in League of Evil 2
Is there any plan to fix the framerate a bit? The game feels choppy, and really gets dodgy when a lot of stuff is on screen. (IE: The first 'impossible' level) I'm still enjoying the game, but this is really hurting the experience for me.
