Level editor with LoE would be amazing!!! It could add ENDLESS replayability by being able to share/receive levels from other users... wow!
I agree big time. The editor for this game is almost a must in addition to level sharing. You will be rewarded many times over as the game will stay on our devices so when you release your official level packs or version 2 (again with editor and level share), you will capture many repeat purchasers. I actually gifted this game to a friend of mine. Alot of comparisons of late between this game and RWK which has an editor and soon to be ability to share them. I am down for LOE for sure, but I want others to be as well.
I would love there to be a level editor, but only really interested in this if the app also has a good way for users to share levels. There needs to be a way in-app to search for levels, for people to rate them and order levels by rating and such. This is a tall order, I realize, and I would be very willing to pay for the privilege via in-app purchase. Level editor would be free so lots of people will get that. The ability to find, rate and download other people's levels is an in-app purchase. EDIT: actually, just make the ability to download them the in-app purchase. You'll probably want people to be able to browse the offerings without that purchase.
I usually just lurk on this thread because I LOVE LOE, but I had to make an account to say im all for a level editor. It would make the game last forever. Just wanted to thank you guys for LOE its definitely my favorite game on the iOS and im super pumped for the jungle update!
Now, I know I've said some "horrible" things about LoE... But a level editor would make this game... well... it would move it into my top 5 favorite platformers. Right now, Robot Wants Kitty is getting the most "play" time out of all the platformers on my iPod (can only beat Miss Claire Garden so many times... =oP ), and it's because of the level editor. I've spent at least 10 hours on 2 levels, one super action on steroids level, and one exploration/maze level... Now, I know that we won't be able to create super huge levels with an LoE level editor, but it most certainly would be great to have ENDLESS playtime after you beat the game (which was really my only complaint about this game... the amount of playtime). PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give us a level editor!!!! I'll tell EVERYONE I know who has an iPod to nab this game if you do... hell, I'll probably gift it to them if they are unsure about it. --Excited about the Jungle levels!!
Wow, feedback is definitely showing an interest in League of Evil getting a level editor! I guess the next question would be what games have level editors / sharing that you guys want us to research? We will start looking into them and taking your suggestions and start building a plan!
Right now, all I can think of on the iOS is Ricky and Robot Wants Kitty. =o/ But only Robot Wants Kitty has EVERYTHING that the actual game has - IE; all the different blocks and enemies + power ups. Ricky only gives you a couple of the enemies, and blocks... they don't let you build levels with EVERYTHING that the actual game mode has... and I think that's a BIG deal... so long as you include EVERY block/enemy your level editor will be DAMN GOOD.
Look into Robot Wants Kitty. It has the best level editor of all idevice games. If LoE got a level editor, I would go CRAZY! That would just amazing!
- Labyrinth 2. - iBlast Moki. - Jellycar 2. To name a few others. As much as a level editor would be nice, I'd be more happy with additional playable characters(making them unique/diverse somehow would only be better). You guys are already keeping me more than happy with the additional levels you've added/will be adding in future updates. I'm sure whatever comes about will be more than welcomed to this great game.
+100 on the level editor!!! I like the way Robot wants Kitty's level editor easily switches from edit to play mode. If you make something comparable, that would be outstanding! In their thread I asked for the ability to put some text on the screen, so I can include some story in my game levels, to personalize them. Just a thought... Interestingly, I spend more time on the level editor for Robot wants Kitty, than playing the game! The level editor is like a game in itself. You may be concerned that releasing a level editor will prevent you from releasing future levels yourself...but the resulting benefit is a lot more levels than you could create yourself and it will lead to more of a community for the game as people swap / rank levels. Instead of extending the game with new levels in future, we'll do that for you and you can extend functionality / game objects.
That's a GREAT idea ^^^ --- the adding text to the screen... Also, I completely agree with your second paragraph... you make some VERY good points. So long as they (you guys) have a server that we can all share our created levels on... that would be perfect... if you do get a server up that hosts levels, maybe let us rate them too, so that we don't end up going through a bunch of junk levels people made and uploaded while getting to know the level editor?? I know the first 3 levels I made with the Robot Wants Kitty editor were REALLY bad... but at first I thought they were fun... I'm thinking people would REALLY want to share their levels RIGHT AFTER they create them, which would lead to some people sharing their first couple levels that weren't really thought out... Or you could not have a server, and maybe keep adding additional expansions... or IAP of future expansions... You could do both too... I know even with a level editor, some of the original levels you guys created will be hard to surpass, as they were just REALLY REALLY thought out VERY well. Oh yeah... Robot Wants Kitty should do this too... when you touch a block or enemy that you're wanting to use in the level editor, it'd be nice if you had to double tap it in order to activate it, with the first tap bringing up a little description of the block or enemy... for instance... one tap on a moving hammer thing could bring up some txt that says "Clockwise slow moving hammer" or "Counter-clockwise fast moving hammer"... something along those lines... it's not necessary, but would be a nice addition.
Labyrinth 2 (for sharing, not able to create on idevice) and if you have ever played N, you will see the community that spawned from user levels. If you guys/gals need donations to help, PM me.
