I love light reflection games, and this is surely one of the prettiest we have seen on the App Store. Plus, no time pressure (which might have kept me from buying it). Misguided Well-Known Member Jan 27, 2009 2,346 19 38 #8 Misguided, Oct 5, 2016 It's not especially obvious, but the glowy thing is a hint. You need to place a mirror at that spot. This may or may not have something to do with the name of the level... Really nice so far. Hopefully it gets enough attention to warrant additional levels. nomdagruyere New Member Oct 6, 2016 1 0 0 #9 nomdagruyere, Oct 6, 2016 Looks great, but can't buy for my ipad retina just tried to buy . Despite the very familiar mechanics (and many other clones of this genre), there is a lot to like about this game. Very clean graphics. Some of the puzzles (in the later worlds) are quite clever. The fact that the entire game was developed from start to finish by a single individual needs to be recognized and applauded. One big gripe I have, however, is the overuse of red herrings in many of the later levels as a way to increase the "apparent" complexity and difficulty. These red herrings are unnecessary distractions and destroy much of the elegance of the level design. Instead, the player wastes much time trying to weed out what is not needed. This is particularly true with the portals, an other important mechanic frequently used in this game. Why put down a portal when the solution does not require it (it may be true that I merely found an alternative solution, but the frequent use of red herrings in many levels leads me to think otherwise)? The first puzzle in the bonus world is yet another example of this misuse. anicecompany Active Member Jun 20, 2016 38 0 0 #12 anicecompany, Oct 6, 2016 Just wanted to say thanks for your kind words everyone! Made my day. I would of course also like if the game could get some attention and you are helping me with that now so thank you. Please continue to talk about it and spread the word. @y2kmp3 Red herrings are not intended to be a major part of the experience. (I can think of two-three levels that are intentionally made like that, one being in bonus pack which you mention. I think no rules applies there as it's bonus levels made to be evil). It could be that you found alternative solutions as well. Please PM me with more details. y2kmp3 Well-Known Member Jun 25, 2010 1,784 3 38 #13 y2kmp3, Oct 6, 2016 Last edited: Oct 6, 2016 Can you PM with me an email address with which I could contact you? This way, I can send over some screenshots if needed for these levels. By red herrings, here are the levels I solved in which some of the mechanisms were unnecessary in the solutions: 1. Puzzle Spoiler 2-5 Cliff of Wisdom - Unneeded: Spoiler Yellow block x1 2. Puzzle Spoiler 3-3 One Way - Unneeded: Spoiler Yellow block x3 3. Puzzle Spoiler 4-6 A Light Bounce - Unneeded: Spoiler Yellow block x2 4. Puzzle Spoiler 5-7 Shatter - Unneeded: Spoiler Blue portal x1 5. Puzzle Spoiler 5-9 Petit - Unneeded: Spoiler Blue portal x1, Yellow portal x1 Can you tell me which of these levels for which my solution was uintended? In the meantime, is there a way to skip a level for now so that I can backtrack later to finish it? I am stuck on the first bonus puzzle and want to move on to try out the others first given what you mentioned about the red herrings. anicecompany Active Member Jun 20, 2016 38 0 0 #14 anicecompany, Oct 6, 2016 Thank you. By your description it looks like you solved #3 and #5 with a different solution. There is no way to skip a level, by design. I was thinking of unlocking all bonus levels at once though. I might do that for the next update then. You (and everyone else who wants to) can contact me at [email protected] Looking forward to your screenshots. y2kmp3 Well-Known Member Jun 25, 2010 1,784 3 38 #15 y2kmp3, Oct 6, 2016 Last edited: Oct 6, 2016 Update [6-Oct-2016]: Finished game. Very satisfying puzzles. One of the best "laser beam" puzzle games. Bonus world puzzles definitely way more difficult than puzzles in main worlds. Found alternative solution for Spoiler 6-4 Warp overload with a very unique property ( Spoiler level is solvable without using all of the given mirrors; this level can be solved using only 6 of 7 mirrors ). Jason, I am on the last bonus puzzle now (yep, the first bonus puzzle was very difficult; red herrings are definitely an understatement for that one... ). I will email you my solutions for #3 and #5 as soon as I completed the game. I am definitely interested in how the stock solutions differ. anicecompany Active Member Jun 20, 2016 38 0 0 #16 anicecompany, Oct 7, 2016 Wow! Thank you guys! Laserix: Puzzle Islands is currently featured on the App Store in 100+ countries ("New Games We Love"). (UK, Germany, France, Italy etc... Unfortunately not in US or Japan at the moment). I hope it will stay over the weekend and get some attention. Anyone know the rotation time? I also submitted an update to App Store for review which fixes some issues. Thanks to user y2kmp3 for contributing. (The version on Google Play is already up to date in case anyone wonders). Spread the word and cross your fingers (hold your thumbs if you're a swede).
