Woah... Your post actually reminded me of Dissidia's map system. You basically move pieces around the map to explore.
You make a move, then after that is completed, the entire map makes one move. Then it's your turn again.
Doesn't seem like the OP hasn't replied to this so I'll give it a shot. I played both games (just finished LC GO a few minutes and (99 %) of Furdemption two days ago), imo the main differences are that Furdemption took me about twice to 2 1/2 times as long to get through despite it's rather short levels (including rescue missions there are 140 after all), also because it's a bit more difficult. I found LC GO rather easy and as opposed to Furdemption there also aren't any "quick reaction" levels. It's all puzzle and you can take your time. Being from a big studio Lara Croft is much much more polished of course and I loved the style and feel of the game. I also didn't like the fast levels of Furdemption too much (only ones I haven't finished are 76 and 79 which are all about reaction rather than using your brain) but I suppose that's a matter of personal preference. And even though LC GO was shorter and a bit easier I enjoyed it a little bit more than Furdemption due to it's awesome gameplay and old Tomb Raider feeling. Both are 5 star puzzlers in my book though.
Really nice game with awesome presentation, but the vase collection is quite lame and doesn't fit the gameplay. But except that, recommended! I much prefer it over Hitman Go that actually never clicked with me.
The vase collection? Do you mean the relics? That's what is at the heart of Tomb Raider games - searching for lost artefacts.
IMO I think it actually fits the game well. The turn based system allows for time to look at the wonderful scenery while trying to spot the vases. Also, in the original Tomb Raider titles it's part of the game to spot passages, switches, breakables and pickups that a majority of what you do in the game is run around trying to spot stuff. Just like in LCGo's vase system.
I see. Thanks. By the way I'm in level 78 in Furdemption. I will buy Lara GO but I have SO many good games and not enough free time to finish all of them.
Can anyone tell me how the turn-based system works? It looks boring as hell walking one step at a time.
Agreed that relic collection is a big part of Tomb Raider, but having the player just click on them, as the finger of God, in like a hidden object game, I thought was unfitting, I would have much preferred if Lara somehow picked those up by getting to them.
That would've either completely screwed with the puzzle design or made it all too easy to find relics.
Is it Squenix property? Either way, they could make their own universe. Each world can be an "age" so you start as cavemen thief going after food and avoid being killed by tigers as a tutorial. Then through to Middle Ages / Medieval robbing castles all the way to current day jewellery heist through to futuristic / Sci-Fi theme or Cyberhacker type thing!
