Couldn't agree more. When I played this on 360 after playing a number of dual-stick shooters on my ipod, I couldn't help but think how good (and redefining) it could be on IOS if ported well. I think they did a great job with it and I'm happy to have been right I'm finding myself playing this more than most of yesterday's big releases, which says a lot since I already played through half of it on 360.
I agree. I've played a bit on my iphone 4 and it's been running great. Love the game in general, no complaints. Also most of this is on auto target, which makes fighting enemies a bit more fun on the touchscreen.
That is strange. I'm only running on a 2nd Gen iPod Touch with Game Center on and haven't had any issues at all with framerates, graphics or controls. I'm very impressed at how it was ported. Maybe it actually runs worse on an iPhone 4 / iPad? I have, however, not tried co-op. Definately my favorite of all of last night's releases (of course, there were a few I couldn't even get because of my ancient hardware).
Meh, I respect Toucharcade's reviews a lot and the contrast of opinion between the boards and the review is confusing. Now Pocketgamer, after reading their reviews of Real Racing 2 and how OTT it is, hearing that for Rogue Runner they demanded advertising purchased to review the game and their 6 for Aralon make then unreliable in contrast.
Visuals are fine nice and crisp and I'm finding it fun as for is it worth the price definitely only thing I would say is there are a few crashing issues I've played for about a couple of hrs and it's happened twice to me
So no one who has played the game have experienced any of the problems that were in the TA quick look? Very strange indeed...
Well i have actually been playing this for most of the day now and it hasn't got to a point where i can justify the harshness of the TA review so I am baffled... especially since usually the reviews are so in tune with my own personal tastes. Maybe you were reviewing a broken version of the game or your iphone was having a very bad day... i just don't know. I even had an easier time controling my jumps on bits that drove me absolutely mental on the PC version (i'll admit it... keyboard diagonal jumping is NOT cool) What blows me away about this game is how faithful it is to the original. Aside from the lovely physics everything feels the same.
Can anyone confirm if this one has all the levels/content of the console versions (besides the graphics/etc obviously)? I read somewhere that the iPhone version has 10 levels, but researching the console game, it appears to have 14?
Anyone? Probably something easy that I'm missing. I've also destroyed the two dart traps with a bomb. Yet, don't know where to go. When you go to the corner of the top level it directs the camera to a higher level on the other side of the bottom corridor. But no matter what I can't run and jump to get high enough to reach it and don't see any way of climbing from below.
Yes it definitely is worth the price, stability issues aside. But I'm sure those problems will be worked out in due course. I've crashed several times but I still am amazed at the level of artistry of this game. Who needs an XBOX? Not me.
Here's a screenshot. Kind of dark, but basically I had just come through a door leading to this room and killed off some baddies as well as the dart traps. The stairs and corridor you see don't seem to lead anywhere. Thought I could try to get up those little ledges on the sides, but no go. And can't jump to the other side either. I don't think this is supposed to be a puzzle room so I've gotta just be missing something stupid.
