Everyone argues too much. Some say it's good, others disagree. One thing I think everyone can agree on, is that this game needs an update to fix graphics, controls, and bugs. It is NOT of the highest quality expected from major players like Square Enix.
I almost always read the front page reviews for games I'm going to get and they usually convince me to get the games, so I respect them and the writers very much, but with that review I have to disagree. This game is fantastic and the controls are fantastic, with the exception of a few little hiccups. Everyone has their own opinion, but I'm afraid that one person's opinion may drastically affect the sales of a great game for the worst. I definitely think that the majority should rule on this one and the article should be edited to include: "However, our forum members are loving the game, so check out our forum (link) to decide for yourself"
But our reviews aren't crowdsourced, that's the thing. This isn't a game I'd recommend, and that's pretty much all it comes down to.
Slap ma hide! Wal, Vovin says thet this hyar game is fine. Mebbe yo' sh'd lissen t'him an' injoy one of th' bess games this hyar year. Sho'nuff, a few gitches - but nothin' game bustin'. This hyar game owns. Laree Vrof' is back - better than befo'e.
And I respect that, but I don't agree with it. You are absolutely entitled to your opinion, but it comes down to what the majority feels. Yes your reviews are simply a simple person's opinion, but when everyone on a forum disagrees completely with a review, something should be done about that. Anyways, I hardly think this is something to get all steamed up about, being that Square Enix is a very large company and is perfectly capable of taking a hit and updating the game, but I personally feel that the game is good enough to get now without the update. Sure it would get better with updates, but why miss the opportunity to play a great game just because of a few bugs?
Of course they're not. However, to be fair, when the forum agrees with the review/impression, there is often a "don't take our word for it, check out what the forum members are saying about it here" link. I think all he's saying is that this is a case where posting a similar link to the forum where the majority seem to disagree with the front page impressions would have seemed appropriate. At this point it's really a moot point though, as the impressions are already a week old and most early adopters would have already made their decision as to whether or not to pick it up.
If Touch Arcade would rate this game, it would be what, a 5/10 or lower? It sounded like that coming from the review. I don't have the game but it looks great from watching the videos. AppSpy has given it a 4/5, a pretty decent score.
I don't have this yet. I loved it on the Xbox. I was thinking that this would obviously translate into a dual-stick shooter type control scheme on the iPhone. Did they not do it this way?
This bums me out. I was looking forward to buying this last night only to find out they pulled out. Sounds like a quality issue and I'm kinda surprised they pulled it. I think most devs would've kept it up while they worked on a fix. Maybe they'll add Kain and Raziel to make up for pulling it, but I doubt they would do that.
As someone who has played the game, I found it's frame rate to be perfectly fine. It maintains around 30 fps constantly. I also had no problem connecting with friends online for a co-op match. This was all on a 3GS phone. I've played the game through level 8 solo, and level 5 co-op. I don't see any of the frame rate or sound problems that the your review talks about. Can you explain where, exactly, the frame rate drops to "unplayable" rates in the game? I certainly haven't seen that happening... however I still do have two more levels to play.
They should have also lowered the price to make up for the time, trouble, and frustration the game has caused. (Well, it wouldn't help the people who already bought the game, but it would help me! )
Ive found two solutions to this: 1) do a hard reset, you'll probably need to do it everytime you wanna play, so thats less than ideal OR 2) simply turn on airplane mode, it seems to be logging into gamecenter that causes it to crash. EDIT : you can turn airplane mode off again and switch back to game, once the game has loaded it seems to stay open via multitasking...
I haven't purchased this yet, but if it helps the cause of showing that high quality games can be successful on the App store then I'm all for it. I honestly think Infinity Blade is fun in small doses, but i would have purchased it regardless just to help sales. The other reason I'm going to buy Guardian of Light is because I would love to see Crystal Dynamics port games from their Legacy of Kain franchise. In particular I'd like a portable version of Legacy of Kain: Defiance because it focuses more on combat as opposed to how Soul Reaver 1 and 2 focus more on puzzle solving. I'm sure there would be some obstacles to overcome control-wise, but thanks to Prince of Persia:Warrior Within we've seen that a port like this can be pulled off. If the ps2 Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver games use the same 3d engine and if a port of one of those games sells well perhaps they'll port all of them. By the way is there any news of whether Kain and Raziel will be dlc in the iphone version like they are on 360 and ps3?
Yeah I want to get this but I want to get aralon also. I can't really decide but I think I might go with this. Do you guys like it?
I don't really trust TA's reviews anymore after they recommend Secret of Mana over a game like this, especially considering how SoM is also a port (but a port from the freaking 90s) and selling at $8.99 no less, by the same company. Insane. TA's a great site because of the community.
