I think I recognize that spot. Have you tried throwing the lance onto the wall at the upper left of the screenshot? You should then be able to jump onto it, then onto the ledge.

    controls?

I've been reading up on this game and really want to pick it up for my iPad... My only concern is the controls. Can anyone tell me if it controls well on iPad?

I've been sick these last few days so not thinking properly (but still playing games! :) ). I'll give that a shot. I'm sure that'll work.

I'm pretty sure you have to either use the spear to climb up or use the mines to blow up something.

Just saw the image you posted, you need to use the spear to climb up the wall to the right. That's another thing I like about this game, it doesn't hold your hand the whole way.

The only issue I see is there is a slight crackling during parts of the sound, its very faint, but it's there. Aside from that I have to say wholeheartedly this is one of the best iOS games I've played. Reminds me of a well made PS2 action game.

The graphics are awesome, with sprawling, spiraling environments unfolding on top of each other. All the effects pertaining to bombs, weapons, and utilities look great. The UI and menu system is easy to navigate with quick help screens plain in view for anyone looking for more info. The puzzles on the challenge caverns are done extremely well and force you to plan out solutions. And the soundtrack is probably my favorite part. When you first start the game, the sound is kept to a minimum with only fx related to your actions, gunshots, walking, ect., probably to build suspense, but as you get deeper in the music starts to bleed through.

So glad I didnt sleep on this!

Also yes it has multitasking, and if you want to switch weapons easier slide your finger from the weapon button to the weapon you want to switch to. Don't try to tap.

After finishing the second level, I have to agree whole-heartedly: this is one of the best action adventure games I've ever played on a handheld. Unless the game falls apart on the next level, this is in my top ten of the year.

Just finished the third level and have run into a few of the glitches mentioned in the review -- there's a bridge missing a few colliders, including a spot that you need to jump to that can get frustrating. The game also hiccups a bit when you enter a save area, and this level (which is massive) has plenty of them, so it's possible that that came across as a frame-rate drops. That said, I beat the level with few problems, and still had plenty of fun with it.

The bit that still mystifies me is the whole complaint about the controls. I'm jumping onto platforms, managing puzzles, and beating enemies and bosses pretty much as well as I've done on any PSP game. Most deaths have been purely my fault (the one exception is that missing collider on the bridge). Perhaps I'm supernaturally good at managing a touchscreen, but somehow I don't think so.

So, in a way I agree with the review: the game could use an update. But even as is it's eminently playable, and quite simply one of the true console-level experiences on the platform.

I CAN'T PASS THE COLLAPSING BRIDGE!!!!

Is this a bug or what. ???? I've given up all hope, because that last jump is impossible.

When you make the last jump, aim for the right hand side of the bridge surface. The left hand side has a missing collider and you just go right through it.

It's pretty easy if you criss cross jumps where there are missing gates. Took me a couple of tries to figure this out. Also loving the increase in difficulty on the puzzles as I get farther down. Been melting faces with the M16, moderate ammo usage and bumped it's power with scatter shot and +1 to damage :)

The only problem I ran into was the rotating pillar that you have to spear to get across then back, but it's a typical draw distance I would've ran into in any PS2 game.

I'm hoping I can take my gear and continue into hardcore, that would be some nice replay value.

Does anyone know roughly how long it takes to complete this game?

10-12 hours. A lot longer if you try to get all the unlocks

There are a ton of mini-challenges and achievements, so the replay value is high.

I've put in 4 1/2 so far and just complete the third level. Although I did take my sweet time playing during commercials while watching some tv this week and then a little before bed. The achievements are cool because you're rewarded with stat perks (relics/artifacts) or new weapons, which is motivation for me more so than a score would be.

Still hope the front page review doesn't turn people off this game. Kind of made it sound like a sloppy mess. I also haven't seen any other sites reviewing it yet. But it's really great!

I completely agree with the forum members.

The front page review, though not harsh in words, is harsh in details.

This game is quite beautiful, fun, complete, long, list goes on. Had I not read this review, I would have thought this game was excellent after having purchased it.

I don't understand the complaints in this article at all. The controls are not an issue at all. I can't test out co-op, but I can tell you that in over 10 hours of gameplay, this game hasn't crashed once. Not a single time.

I request you review your reviewer and redo this review. Many people browsing for reviews of this game will see this and not purchase an excellent game for no reason hurting the developer and preventing future games of this caliber from being produced. Check the forums and see for yourself that this review makes no sense.

I'm very on the fence with this one... I've never played Lara Croft before but it does look great. What does the gameplay consist of? Exploration?
