Ok - so pretty sure that Muscat is talking about Larry La Trobe in Melbourne (where GCAP was held). That Larry looks like the same dog that Turny is standing next to in the slides. (Edit: What Cydewinder just said!)
Hi. I've been playing Land Sliders for a while now and I was following the forum at the beginning but now I stopped and apparently a lot has happened. Can someone update me? What is up with Yamba, Cat Enthusiast, Watersliders, Enigma Room, Dog Statue and Eurasia? I tried to read through the comments but I only got more confused than I already was. Thanks!
the photo clues led us to look for a slide from Luke Muscat's presentation at Game Connect Asia Pacific. The code photo was "Game". The puzzle photo was "Connect". The maps were all of "Asia". The Yamba Map was "Pacific" (the curser was in the Pacific Ocean). The remaining two were "Slide" and "Character".
Hmm... The LarryLives clue was posted before LS1.2 was out, so we wouldn't have known about the yeti at the time the clue was posted. On Nov 2nd, Muscat posted (in this thread), "Haha, dang, I totally didn't think it was that bad.", along with a closer shot of the clue. I can only assume that the clue was solvable at that point, but we wouldn't have had any knowledge about the yeti at that time. If this Twitter handle is the answer (which it definitely seems like based on the last two hints given by Muscat), then it wouldn't have been solvable back then. Not unless the "oct 1.1.1" part of the clue was some kind of cypher for "yeti".
I have the horrible feeling this clue is really simple and we're overthinking it and when we figure it out we're going to have a "doh" moment., I can't think of anything that links larrylives with the GCAP and Yeti and oct 1.1.1 LS1.2 Edit: I updated the google doc with Muscat's new clues https://docs.google.com/document/d/19l4wKAUEsfJuVqW1odljxeyr5t2QAuen14oBpiN9CUA/edit Edit 2: Re-uploading the original image to see if people can see these "multiple facets" without going back 10 pages
Muscat mentioned the game "Skiing Yeti Mountain" on his twitter (also where he posted the larrylives clue a couple of weeks ago)
This is what I got when I typed "Larry yeti mountain" on Google: http://toucharcade.com/2015/06/03/skiing-yeti-mountain-review/ (Probably totally random and not relevant...)
Remember that the pixelated images pointed us to the GCAP (4 images), as well as slide and character (the last 2 images). The LarryLives clue was on a slide in Muscat's presentation during GCAP. He posted the slide on Twitter so we all could see it. The last pixelated image clue indicated something to do with a character. The LarryLives clue from the slide at GCAP is how the solution to this. Several characters were added to the game in 1.2, along with one new enemy (the yeti). I can only assume that the "oct 1.1.1" was somehow supposed to single out the yeti specifically, but I have no idea how. Once we had the character, yeti, and we consider that Larry "lives" on Twitter, we can search for "Larry Yeti" and find the @larryyeti handle that was posted already. If this is all correct, then I imagine we have to wait for the next clue to pop up on @larryyeti's feed. EDIT: Dangit, new hint (mountain) got posted while I was typing this, lol. Hmm...
Worth noting that the tweet about that game from Muscat "Man, the way that Skiing Yeti Mountain handles it's ads is just so so good. @dylanbevis is a smart dude." is related to the ad system in the game which uses an in game salesperson to show you ads. The salesperson's name... Larry
Don't you mean clue #4? Or are you replacing your original clue #3 with this one? Or did you intentionally use #3 twice as another clue? Ahhh! You've got me thinking everything is a clue now, lol.
Still may be complete coincidence with 'Skiing Yeti Mountain' but it's currently on version 1.1.1 which was released in October
Ok, so now I'm thoroughly confused. If Muscat didn't give us the hints, how were we supposed to link Oct 1.1.1 with yeti mountain? And if Larry is the ad guy, what about Larry La Trobe in Melbourne where GCAP was (the second hint)?
Also Muscat and Dylan (the creator of Skiing Yeti Mountain) both worked at Halfbrick in the past so I would assume they're friendly
I think hint #2 was referring to Twitter, which is where the clue was revealed to all of us, not Melbourne.
Not too sure, this whole idea of the link with Skiing Yeti Mountain may be completely off but there's too much coincidence to not investigate
