sooo... 1. code/unity 2. connection 3. asia/maps 4. yamba/coast/ocean 5. water slide 6. character/cat enthusiast The only thing I'm getting in Unity connects maps and land sliders characters. but that means the coastline is land which I think is a bit of a stretch.
And now we have enough image numbers to put them in order the order is as follows http://imgur.com/RegLCIx
What about connecting the locations found in the game on the asian map ? I found it weird that the devs let them show up in the halloween update as most of them were discovered and it's still sending people to usb drivers that are not there anymore.
All I can come up with is: Q: "What happened in Land Sliders?" A: A code united land sliders enthusiasts across oceans. Or something along those lines. But that doesn't comply with the order that we've been given.
All these puzzles are so exciting! I really like that idea. How about: "Codes found in the game led us to a puzzle (via the geocache usb drives) that were spread over many continents and across oceans which showed us how to slide our character in the game." I suppose the usb puzzle more showed us what buttons to push than where to slide, but I definitely think the phrase we need is an answer to that question.
Would someone be willing to do a summary post of everything we know so far? I can't catch up on a 95 page thread, unfortunately. The Unity code looks like it has something to do with the number of times the app is backgrounded. So it would be something like, open the app, background it a few times, close it completely (task manager), then open it up again. Then...do something that calls the secret URL, which opens Safari, then go back to the app. It's the "do something that calls the secret URL" part that's confusing. It is possible to just decompile the code and take a peek, I guess. I'm hesitant to do it, unless showing us the actual code is supposed to point us in that direction.
This is most of what happened already as far as clues go I think https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FfUGUnsYSXvWxyCEnBc0q4Q1Df2cwRadpF4pY14ujoA/edit?pli=1
I'm toying with the idea that the "Yamba" photo might be "Pacific". "Asia Pacific" is a thing, and those are in order. Just throwing that out there.
What if the unity code is just representing the word game... Game Connect Asia Pacific (GCAP) Landslider Character (Muscat is a character) And guess who is a speaker at this years GCAP, yes Luke Muscat is! And it's happening on October 27/28th. Maybe this clue was to lead us into watching Muscat at the GCAP! SOLVED??? *edit* explains why the clues were dragged out, keep us from solving it too fast and making us wait until the conference
Nice! This sounds like a very plausible solution. I've never heard of GCAP. I'll have to look that up. So would this mean he'll drop some cryptic clue during his presentation that continues the hunt? Will the event be streamed (either live or afterward) so that we can all watch?
Hopefully it will be streamed or maybe he will post an update from the convention with another clue... It fits perfectly with the first four clues, the other two is a bit of a stretch and could be something else but would have to be related to GCAP.
Great job with "Game Connect Asia Pacific". I'm not sure about the rest, but I feel that part is correct.
Assuming "game connect Asia pacific" is correct, we are only left with the waterslide clue and the cat enthusiast clue. Any ideas? *edit* maybe we are looking for a slideshow during the GCAP convention and the cat enthusiast will show up as a hint to which slide holds the clue? *edit2* going back to my first thought, I checked Luke's character in game and he is surfing...could reference water slider character to complete the clue. Thus we should be looking for his appearance at GCAP. He appears twice at the convention, once each day.
sounds pretty reasonable! I also thought earlier that muscat was the hint in the cat enthusiast picture!
This game uses iCloud, so all of the characters I unlock on my phone also get unlocked on my iPad. All except Vlad, that is. I have to find 50 pumpkins again on my iPad to get Vlad on that device. Is this intended? It's not a big deal, just wondering.
The next waterslide photo is posted on Twitter. No surprises. I'm still mulling what "Water Slide" "Cat Enthusiast" means. Maybe it's just "slide Cat Enthusiast". But where? When?
Anyone else hitting a wall in the 300-350 range? Every time I get over 300 I get an insane difficulty level with tight navigation, loads of enemies, and tons of overhead drops. The difficulty scaling is completely broken in my opinion, this seems to happen every time I hit 300, which is well over a dozen times now.
