she can sing. amazingly. her voice is sometimes edited in her videos to do some effects , it's true. but when it comes to live, she is as amazing as ever. I'm not attracted to her, but she is an amazing artist. Ok, so maybe she's a bit flamboyant, but it ll adds effect!

man, i really don't see why people criticise her... she's actually got talent! her voice isn't that autotuned sh*t that most chart topping hits are nowadays!

yeah, her videos are getting more and more risque though

  4. I dunno if she has talented...I never listen to her music, but the way she dresses...awful

A lot of the kids around here have a knee jerk reaction where they hate anything popular. We were all there once I think. :)

  6. I'm rather young and I like "normal" music (not too much electronics) and I also like most popular stuff, except for most auto tune s***. But, seriously, her image is terrible and I don't like the way she's going... :/
and I'm listening to the new Gorillaz album while posting this... :D

her image is pretty much perfect for media in my opinion-admittedly, it's not for the younger generation but the let's face it, to make it big in the charts nowadays, chances are you're going to have to sing about sex in some ways or another.

being a 'hemaphrodite' only makes her more unique, therefore a bigger hit in the media world.

her 'flamboyant' look actually is quite fine i think, at least it's a bit different.

The thing about Lady Gaga that separates her from the rest of the pack is she has the ability to reinvent herself. We might still be hearing her music in 20 years, while the Britney's and Ashlee Simpson's of the world will be long forgotten. Think of Madonna. She's been relevant in music for 3 decades because of her ability to change and keep up with the times. Britney has already tried to reboot her career and failed. Christina Aguilera I think is a very talented singer, but went from good little church girl to turbo slut overnight, so where can she go from there?

Also, I was watching some music special about Lady Gaga, and they were talking to the dude that produced her last album. He says she walks in the studio, knows exactly how she wants to sound, and they work together to make it happen. She has her own set vision, and I totally respect that. Most pop singers have their album made for them by a producer or manager. Gaga's not only a talented singer, but having a vision for what you want to be takes talent as well. You may love her or hate her, but Lady Gaga is a real icon and she's probably going to be around for a long time.

Actually look up some articles on why she's as such and I don't think you can hate her as much. ;)

The interesting thing about Lady Gaga's ability to reinvent herself is how quickly she is doing it. Madonna is a good comparison, but consider how slow the world moved back then. Videos were produced, editing, then appeared on MTV months later after the whole process was complete. When she had a new photo shoot, months also would pass between when the shoot actually was and when the issue of Rolling Stone hit newsstands.

Compared to today where photos are online instantly and music videos show up on YouTube moments after they're cut and edited, Madonna's career was moving at a glacial pace. The thing I'm worried about is I really don't know how long Lady Gaga can keep this up. I can't imagine working at that pace.

In other news, this is a pretty awesome cover-

    Seductive MILF.

    Seriously.

Think about it. She knows you want her, but she plays coy, not "innocent" mind you, but seductively coy, like it's natural for her to be that way, natural for her to, say, have just a bit of her cleavage showing while she works on her garden or whatever, but she knows damned well that you're looking and it turns her on to know that she turns you on. And that's when she looks up at you and smiles and gives you just the slightest little wink, asks you if you're hot and would like something to drink because "she's awfully...hot and could use a drink".

Again, seductive MILF. That should be Christina's next move.

I'd agree, even though I'm not typically into pop music, particularly overproduced pop music as I think she is guilty of (honestly, she's talented enough and known enough to "reinvent" herself again and release a totally acoustic album, and THAT I'd buy), but she is an icon of these times...BUT...Hodapp brings up a good point:

These times are moving VERY fast. Madonna was the master of reinvention, but the '80s and '90s heyday were slow as hell compared to the media world of today. How long can Lady Gaga keep this up? And how long will the media as it exists today, with the consumer market that exists today (and she, like all mainstream entertainment, targets mainly that "youth" market), want to keep her around as an icon?

That's why, honestly, I'd like to see her go with an album with an under-produced sound. Raw. Acoustic. Hell, how about acoustic and live (a comeback for MTV Unplugged, perhaps?)? It would not only be something that I would be interested in personally, but it would also extend her career should this torrid pace of hers catch up to her and burn her out a bit, and/or the media and consumer marketplace comes to find her "old news" far too soon.

Oh cool, I never noticed that. I didn't see the Paparazzi video cuz I don't really like that song too much. But watching both videos back to back, it's even more epic now. Thanks for pointing that out.

Ha, I LMAO at that. But I also agree. You need to contact Christina's "people" with this idea. :)

And good points about how fast paced media is today. I hadn't really though about that, but it's true. I like the idea of her doing an unplugged show. If anybody has the ability to keep up with the times, I think Lady Gaga can do it. And for anybody that thinks she's not talented, watch this video of her performing at NYU before she was Lady Gaga:

She was so cute in this video, a nice normal girl. That would have NEVER been popular ;)
