Ah no, that one is a bug. Everything was fine and dandy, but when we did a clean build for the final submission to Apple, that image never was checked out from the version control system for some reason, so the image is simply missing. The button still works though! Image will be added in the update.
Yes now i've understand what you mean, the presence of the button Main menu instead of the "Back" one is more logical now. thanks
Minor BUGS on level editor! Just now while making new levels on the editor there were some glitches that I experienced in which when I clicked to move something it wouldn't register and would now move, enlarge, rotate ETC. Please fix this!
I think we need a little bit more info. Could you explain a bit more in detail, like step by step? Are you able to reproduce it?
why does the ball sitll move all over the place even when the ipod is completely still? It's really getting on my nerve when I'm doing levels that require some isnanely precise movement
...'cause it's not perfectly level? When I put the iPod on my desk the ball rolls, but only in one direction, it doesn't just go crazy. Actually, it does wobble about slightly... but I've never been stuck on a level because of it.
This will be a bit techie, but the accelerometer isn't perfect and you vill get values from it that varies a lot, this is called jitter. You can compare it with a photo captured by a digital camera that is very noisy (due to small CCD and low-light conditions, i.e. a high ISO is needed). So what you do is that you smooth out the values a little bit, the same as removing noise from a photo. The more you smooth it, the less detailed it will get, same as in a photo. So the problem is to smooth it just enough without loosing too much detail. It's often a trade off between detail (sensitivity) and noise (smoothness). You would want the accelerometer to register your movements exactly, but it should register it directly and with no lag -- you don't want to have Super Monkey Ball 2 controls in this game. It shouldn't wobble too much, but there will always be a small jitter. This is actually pretty advanced stuff, to read more, Wikipedia is always a good start: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adaptive_filter
Ever played the "real" wooden Labyrinth game? I did. For many many hours. The antetype of this computer game: Each micro dust crumb can drive you nuts. You'll never be able to polish perfectly steel orb and wood. iPhotch-Laby is completely clean (except the game's home screen —don't try to clean it). Maybe Mr. Anders should add some simulation of crumbs and uneven wood by chance (randomly generated). Like an overall "Extra Hard Mode" that spices up too easy levels and gives even more reality and challenge for the hard core laby junkies. Easy to find besides the ghost button. Personally I am overwhelmed each time when I fire up that great simulator by the precise accelerometers of iPhone and iPod. The game makes adequate and accurate use of it. A perfect symbiosis. Try to put a real steel ball in the same size like the virtual one onto your touchscreen while playing the game and see what happens!
It's a pretty cool idea actually! I'll bring it up for discussion. I dunno if you have seen this, this was recorded two years ago with L1: If you think L1 and L2 are perhaps "too sensitive", just try the real thing, it's pretty much the same. You may remember it as easier, but it is freaking hard. And oh yeah, we re-recorded the ball rolling sound on wood using a board exactly like in the original, so it's a bit more coarse now and you can hear the dust/crumbs/dirt etc. It'll be in the next update.
I mentioned that I considered undertaking a project that's essentially the reverse: using an iPod to control an actual Labyrinth board. The only response I got was "Boring"
I'd say "cool!" (pretty cool post about Swedes and our take on the approval process (hey jchampl, a post about Sweden!): http://gizmodo.com/5428317/swedes-camping-outside-apple-hq-asking-steve-jobs-to-approve-their-app-%5Bupdated%5D and http://www.dearstevejobs.com, something to consider for the update )
Cool video. Wowowow! I am an absolute sound nut and can't await it. Don't forget "steel on steel" sounds. I love the sound when the orb touches the fans. Some pretty awesome ideas here. A little bit too much fanboyism here—but okay. And? Did they get any response from Dear Steve Jobs?
Not approved yet though. Don't really understand why they did all this, only Swedes will use the app after all.
I think to have found a bug..when i was in the Top 25 section i tap on the first one (Monster Kill by Defender) and while trying to load the preview image i tap the right arrow to see the image of the second level. Then the app crasched and returned to the home screen of the iPod. It happens every time with every other level pack...
A lot of the time when I scroll through the levels in a pack it freezes for a while, presumably because it's loading the images... but I've never had it crash to the home screen.
Jaw, I'd skip it. It's junk. Had it on my iPod for weeks now and all it does is let you spend countless hous rolling a ball through devilish and sometimes delightful mazes. And the idiots who bought this game keep making more and more levels to play. Since they are all free to download, I feel obligated and there goes another few hours. Do yourself a favor and don't get this.
