I love Secret Exit and Illusion Lab (also for not toying with the price, except with the first Labyrinth when Wooden Labyrinth came out). I don't like ngmoco.
Favorites My favorites are Illusion Labs indeed. Their games are all of excellent quality and exploit the unique controls of the iPhone-iTouch. And for a lot of other reason like the don't price cut ,the care they put on their games and the careful for customers that they have(the strong presence of Anders here is a proof).
Dude, you're on a forum, just ask and we'll compare. I don't get this obsession with having to compare every little achievement with friends, the game's UI is one of the best in any iPhone game, and OpenFeint is incredibly ugly. Plus+ looks slightly better to me but nothing beats a custom achievements/awards screen that actually FITS the game's theme. Anders, remember what you said about not changing the icon? That includes not putting that horrible OpenFeint logo on it
Finally someone who shares the same thought with me If you read the Stair Dismount thread, I just made a similar post. I'm very concerned the new icon will look bad after they put that fugly Open Feint logo on it. Seriously, it makes the games feel cheap as if they're on sale or lite version. I want my icons to look nice and not cluttered with that stupid Open Feint symbol.
I agree that the game does not nned open feint or plus+ but come on guys, do u really care that much about a freakin icon?
It's pretty important to most people. And to devs, it's actually extremely important. When browsing the App Store, usually all you have to go on is an icon really. Sure you might recognize the name of the app, but you really see the icon first and if you haven't heard about it before, all you got is the icon to catch your interest.
I think a lot of devs see the OF logo as a sign of quality. Sure, it's probably the best leaderboard/achievement system on the iPhone, but right now I have so many apps with that logo on (almost one on every single page), it's starting to feel like my iPod itself is sponsored by OpenFeint.
the few things i hate bout this user made packs 1. lots of bumpers, cannons= no fun 2. no organization, useless features within a level 3. no checkpoints making a near-goal death extremely painful 4. packs that are made to obtain an award specifically=cheating 5. unbelievably hard levels that even the creator took hours to complete 6. random sirens that are useless, sometimes they are on when a level starts for no reason
Hi, guys. Since logos on icons is being discussed in a lot of threads I created a poll where you can vote for your preference. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?threadid=36615 I think it would be interesting to see the result.
someone made a pack called "killing fields" which I thought was rather well done, it's listed as medium but I think it should be hard for the multiplayer game awards I might end up going to an apple store, installing labyrinth 2 on one of the devices there, and play multiplayer games..
+1 Same here! The price stability is a good reason to trust those 2 developers. Love them for that, and I don't hesitate to buy game when they come out. For other stuff, I usually add apps/games to AppMiner or BargainBin, and just wait for the price drop... Last time I didn't do that was for Cobra Command (5$)... and it droped to 1$ 2 days after release! Bing! Anyway, the game remains good, but the marketing model is definitely irritating for early adopters... The good point: that made me wiser for now, and learned me to wait
preview of what's to come I am about to publish my first level pack. I have worked very hard on it and I think you guys will like it a lot. It's more of a thinking level pack rather than having to be really good at navigating. I have four done so far, but I have an idea for the fifth, so the whole thing should be done before the end of the day today. here are screens of the ones I have so far.
After reading the app description I have no idea what this game is about. Guess an actual description of the game was left out. And $4.99? This better have some shockingly amazing features that significantly surpasses the simple graphics...
1. There will always be levels you don't like. Some really like classic levels, some don't etc. 2. I agree, just rate them low 3. I try to encourage checkpoints in my posts. We'll probably either do a list of top #10 tips for creating awesome levels, or perhaps even do a video 4. Hard to stop, just rate them low 5. Yeah those are annoyingly hard, I've seen some with part times of 2.5 hours! 6. Agree, just rate them low It's hard to stop people from making too hard or bad levels, but we can help them out to do good levels by * creating a tutorial, probably a video, and mention good practices * creating a top #10 list of what makes a level good (you guys can helpt me out on that one) * perhaps adding a "tip of the day" when logging in Another question regarding the editor, do any of you click "more info" on objects? Do you think that is clear enough? I copied that from YouTube, thought perhaps people were used to it. Originally it sa "Click here for more information...", perhaps it's more likely that people will click on that. I put some tips and pointers there, but if no-one sees them..
