I'm so glad to see "Kung Fu Monk" is still in development. I was beginning to think this project had been scrapped. Will KFM also be universal?
Kung Fu Monk is my dream remix of favorite fighting games from the 80s. I want it to be as perfect as can be right out of the gate, as opposed to relying on updates to introduce gameplay tweaks or new content. For better or worse, this means its submission to Apple is going to be delayed until late June. I plan to simultaneously release lite and full versions, with the full version being universal. Not set in stone, but I'm leaning towards a launch price of $1.99. A few more screenshots to show how things are shaping up: Intro with updated gfx: Current in-game Controls: Cut scene:
Looking to line up some fresh testers for a final round of feedback on the release candidate. Please shoot me a PM with your device UUID if interested in an advance copy.
I've updated the first post in this thread with a link to new YouTube video. I decided to leave the old video there for anyone curious to see the progress. The game is (at long last) essentially complete and unless my house burns down or I get hit by a train, it will be submitted to Apple on July 10th.
Great! I played the build long time ago have nit heard anything since! I am happy it was not stopped!
Given the unresolved Lodsys situation, we've decided to remove an optional InAppPurchase from Kung Fu Monk and resubmit. Release date is scheduled for Thursday, August 4th. As soon as Apple approves it, I'll make a few advance copies available for free for the people that have posted in this thread and/or helped test early builds. For anyone curious, the optional in app purchase was for infinite lives. We've decided to go ahead and include this as a game-genie style cheat that people can use at their own discretion, through a link on the support site - free of charge. The existing leaderboards track (among other things) speed runs and number of lives used, so having extra lives up front won't actually give players choosing to lean on this any unfair advantage. We're really pleased with how this game has turned out and are already plugging away at a new Shinobi-style mission featuring Princess Meri as the protagonist.
Hey man the game looks allready awesome my iPad it's on FIRE I want this game nowwww!!!!!! Lol lol lol!!!!!
Awesome, I've been following this thread since the early stages of the game. Can't believe it's almost here!
While KFM works it's way through Apple's review process (fingers crossed), here's a sneak peek at some of the AppStore screenshots.
seeking beta testers I'm wrapping up a major update to the original Kung Fu Monk, and am looking for testers. Changes include: - MFI controller support - simplified controls (virtual dpad) - iphone5 aspect support - LOTS of tweaks to core gameplay & bosses - new techniques: body slam basic enemies - added "2nd quest" with princess as playable character It's been approved by Apple for (IOS8) testflight. Any takers? Phil
I've seen you on these forums for so long, and I knew you were a dev, but never knew what games you made. I like your work though.
Kung Fu Monk - Director's Cut for IOS has been approved by Apple and will be available on Thursday, August 20th, 2015. I may get backlash for this, but this is going to be released as a new game, rather than an update. The primary reason is that there are a LOT of gameplay changes. To reduce app size, some cut scenes have been removed. Stages have been removed/replaced/changed/added. AI is changed. Animations have been tweaked. There's a new final boss, and changes to existing bosses, and a new playable character. It's kind of the opposite of a reskin. If this was pushed out as a update, people would end up with the new version and all its changes whether they wanted them or not. To mitigate this, advance promo codes are available to anyone from Touch Arcade forums that downloaded the original. I can also give out some to folk that never played it as well - just let me know. I think it's a much better game overall, but what matters is what players think. New AppStore trailer is linked below: Enjoy! Phil
I 2nd Dreadnok. I hadn't followed up on this in a good while, but i must say, it's come a long way and I can see influences from all the ganes in the poll. Fantastic!
