To me the documentary maker lost a lot of credibility with the 2 minute shameless self-plug introduction. It just makes you wonder what his motives are for this film.
Valid points. Try to tell that to the Facebook mob mentality going on though, and you'll get more "I don't care about your opinion" remarks.
I posted that to my facebook. The only comments I got were "You're wrong, you're just an unhappy guy who hates africa and is a racist" I have been making this face consistently since 10 am.
I haven't seen this posted around as much as the other sites debunking IC, so: LRA launches new Congo attacks, may be "last gasp" Dated yesterday. Go read it and you will find two specific quotes: Yeah. 9 to 200 guys. People are freaking out about a military group that is no longer even relevant (and hasn't been since 2004, when Operation Iron Fist by the Ugandan Military crushed them). If anything, IC is participating in extremely dubious advertising by portraying the situation as if Uganda is literally still at war and the goal is take out this one bad guy, not that Uganda is no longer at war and is now trying to rebuild. That is more than reason enough not to support IC. They've been lying, full stop. Also, the IC response says that 81% of their funding goes to support programming, but that literally contradicts other sources (as linked on Visible Children) which say 31%. This, coupled with other charity groups (linked also on Visible Children) who say that IC refuses to allow independent auditors in to check their finances, makes it all incredibly shady.
If I was as evil as this guy, I'd kill a child every day until people on Twitter shut up and stopped repeating my name.
