What the freakin' firecracker was that?!?! That's a game?? Really?? I could stick my hand up the backside of a horse and have more fun than that! What a load of you know what! <My review of Elebits>
=o( I know... very upsetting... The Wii version looks like A LOT of time and effort went into it... the gameplay looks like great fun, the graphics look great... everything about it just looks amazing. Then the iOS gets this?? Whatever... =o/
I already picked up Castlevania when I first got my phone, and X-men on launch, so I checked out MGS Touch. It sure isn't even remotely similar in gameplay as the PS3 version or any other Metal Gear, but it's not half bad and for $0.99 instead of its regular price ($6.99 I think?) it was well worth it! I needed another mindless shooter to go along with Time Crisis 2! Although it isn't the traditional Metal Gear gameplay, I don't think it deserves the criticism it got from fans.
Is Castlevania any good? I heard the controls are too twitchy and the music is just a looped short version?
No, Pro Evolution Soccer is their best game. It's the only one where they actually try to do something good. Yes it doesn't have the stunning graphics of FIFA, but then PES was never famous for its graphics. Where it matters though, gameplay, PES still beats FIFA, on the iPhone at least.
How do you like MGS Touch? How difficult is the game for you so far and how varied are the missions? I'm slightly interested, and know to expect a shooting gallery type of game.
I was excited at first when I saw the announcement, but after having seen some reviews on their iPhone game offerings I think I'll pass. What was especially disappointing was that Castlevania puzzle game. I am a huge Symphony of the Night fan and a puzzle game fiend, but the reviews really turned me off on it. I can't believe Konami was charging five bucks for that game before this sale. What the hell?
Controls are twitchy and very sensitive!! At times I found myself putting blocks in the wrong place. Once you get used to it, it is a decent game. I'm not very good at puzzle games, and I didn't get used to the controls so I found myself dying on some of the harder monsters. I'm not sure about the music being short, but it did loop. I haven't played it in a while so I'm sorry that I can't be more detailed. If you love Castlevania and puzzle games its a must buy, but after playing Symphony of the Night on my PSP, I was disappointed with this release. Frankly, they would have made so much more money releasing SOTN in its original form. Not a bad game, but its not exactly the best either. The game is very easy so far! I wasn't used to using pinch in and out to switch between the sniper rifle and the M4, but using both thumbs to pinch in and out on either side of the screen made it easier as opposed to using one hand (index finger and thumb). The missions are all exactly the same so far (only on Act 2) but the enemies vary. At first I was fighting regular PMC soldiers, but I fought a helicopter later on, and I fought the Frog Women Soldiers (have lots of health). I'm on Act 2 now and I'm fighting regular PMC soldiers again. If you played MGS4 on the PS3, it follows the story and levels EXACTLY but just in shooting gallery form. Its a fun game and its even better if you're a Metal Gear Fan (especially if you played 4). I wanted to get it after playing 4 but it's definitely NOT WORTH $7.99. I'm glad since it is DEFINITELY WORTH the $0.99 I spent. Hope that helps you guys in your decision making. Definitely pick up X-men though if you're a beat-em up fan! For $0.99 it's a steal! I paid the regular price!!
Yeah, $8 sounds like paying more for the MGS name than the game itself. Especially on a platform where the status quo is $1-$3 for quality games. I didn't realize Konami's selection was so poor, clearly like a company that doesn't think much of iOS. A couple knockoffs of their licenses, some generic games that were probably passed to first year recruits. Elebits looks stylish but I can't tell what it is from the screenshot or if the kids would enjoy it. I did buy MGS Touch for the fact that it looks easy enough to get into. But I'm not a fan of the series. I had the PSP one, got as far as the tutorial then got rid of it. At least if I don't like this one it was just $1.
I'm wasn't a fan either! I tried getting into it with MGS1, Portable Ops and Peace Walker but I just wasn't interested. For me, the controls were too complicated for the PSP titles. I saw MGS4 for 19.99 at Best Buy so I gave it a shot and I loved it! Since it was on the PS3 the controls were easier, and it was easier to get into. I suggest if you're not a fan to try just part 4. The hardcore fans seem to hate it but it was a good game to me. It actually makes me want to try to get into the series and give part 1 a chance again and buy the collection on the PS3 when it comes out.
Reminds me of some free version of Columns I saw while randomly browsing the App Store. The controls are so frustrating and twitchy, I can't stand it.
