Hi all First of all, sorry for my bad English. I am a French speaker. Today I will tell you about my first game Kissoro Tribal Game, history and success behind it. I come from a poor and unknown country called Central African Republic, a country in a situation of conflict at this moment. In 2012, my parents decided to send me to France to study computer science and management. In France, I discovered the gaming culture and I discovered also that a single man can develop a game. After two years at the university, I decided to develop a game to promote: -My country because, I noticed that nobody knows -Africa, because Europeans misunderstand this continent I decided to start with a mobile game. My road met the road to UNITY3D and in a week I created my first game. Then I embarked on the challenge of creating the best African game on mobile platforms. I decided to develop a game called Kissoro, a board game that has the peculiarity of meeting in all African countries. It is the equivalent of chess and it is one of the oldest strategy games that exist. To differentiate myself from other games, I create a lot of features by keeping the African heart of the game. The game includes a lot of features that offer the user a unique experience and hours of different varieties of play are available, including: - A multiplayer mode - A story mode, where the player plays a character and faces several bosses with different play techniques and where more elements of the game are left up to chance, to up the ante - A classic mode without chance, with the real rules - A challenge mode, which focuses on mental arithmetic and memorization - A tutorial, which allows the player to learn how to play - A daily quest to win gold coins and to spend them in the shop -contests, where the player must beat an AI in order to win prizes - A digitally-updated map representing the two kingdoms fighting against each other in story mode. When the player wins or loses a battle, the map updates to show the battle’s effect on the kingdom he/she was playing for. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWWy2TwUTqc During my three years of project, my classmates laughed at me, telling me that there was no use in doing that. One day I was invited to a game festival to talk about my game, there was a contest and despite the RPG games and many more ambitious ones that were there, I decided to participate. I won this award and I gained confidence in myself. Subsequently, I decided to launch a crowdfunding campaign, because I could no longer finance the project with my student means. I was funded to the tune of 5 000 euros and that's where my life has changed. A very large newspaper from France talked about the game, and automatically many other newspapers talked about my work. https://fr.ulule.com/kissoro-tribal-game/ For months I worked the game to have a quality game. On February 17 I was invited by the French Embassy in Andorra to present the game, and I officially launched Kissoro Tribal game. On the same day I had 3 000 downloads on Android and 700 on IOS. Apple featured me in the top strategy games. In France a lot of media talk about my work, and associations invite me to talk about diversity in the game community. The mayor of my city sends me a message to congratulate me. And in my country I deploy a bilboard to show how I promote the country and why people have to stop to make war. Today I am very happy with this experience, I have the ambition to create the first video game studio based on Africa in Europe. It's not easy, but I already know that with a lot of motivation we can get there. It belongs to the Mancala family of board games, and has been played for centuries in almost all African countries. Its appeal has lead to it spreading to Asia and the Middle East. It is, in fact, a variant of the well-known ‘Oware’ game. The aim of the game is to capture all of the opponent's pawns in order to avoid him/her moving. It is of great educational interest: - The rules of the game are simple to learn - Strategies require the use of calculations - Nothing is left to chance - It tests one’s visual memorization abilities - It is suitable for kindergarten-age kids and up, and can be used to teach them useful skills - It also allows players to test their mental math (addition and subtraction) The game includes a lot of features that offer the user a unique experience and hours of different varieties of play are available, including: - A multiplayer mode - A story mode, where the player plays a character and faces several bosses with different play techniques and where more elements of the game are left up to chance, to up the ante - A classic mode without chance, with the real rules - A challenge mode, which focuses on mental arithmetic and memorization - A tutorial, which allows the player to learn how to play - A daily quest to win gold coins and to spend them in the shop -contests, where the player must beat an AI in order to win prizes - A digitally-updated map representing the two kingdoms fighting against each other in story mode.
