Oh yeah !! Kingturn is GOTW so far with 32% of the vote. A full 10% ahead of its nearest rival (Gemini Rue). If there is any justice in the world it will romp home with the GOTW !
In terms of functionality and content both iOS and Android version are absolutely identical. Furthermore, the data files containing all scenario and character definitions are platform independent, so new content will be (more or less) automatically available for both platforms. There are some minor differences GUI-wise (Slightly different position of one or two buttons, Android has line separators for list items where iOS has none, and iOS has a slightly different color scheme for comparing items.) But that's pretty much it. Edited Note: Just now I've noticed that you are mentioning a 'lite' version. Just to make sure that we are talking about the same thing ... Everything mentioned above is related to Kingturn RPG (not valid for Knighturn or Sw&Ear). Most likely. We've added 6 (or was it 7?) story scenarios since the initial release of Kingturn, and the Skirmish campaign didn't exist at all at the beginning. Edite Note: Just to prevent confusion ... I meant the initial release of Kingturn for Android (which is quite some time ago now) . But my point is that we've added scenarios in the past and we intend doing so in the future, with identical content for both iOS and Android.
Really !?! Wow I had no idea ! I wondered why I hadn't noticed skirmish mode before ! Doh. Also maybe you should add a 'tip the dev' button like other games have recently ? I feel like I robbed you paying what I did for the 67+ scenarios.
That's in far better taste than a tip button. Awesome idea my friend ! I would gladly pay upfront for the ports. In the meanwhile I've satiated my need to tip the dev by recommending the game to a friend and buying Knighturn to play after this at some future date if I live long enough ! The lesser graphics don't bother me because I'm sure the gameplay and story are solid.
I see what you guys are doing there ... But we are not that easily manipulated to port the 2 sequels, starting with Kingturn Plus and Kingturn Underworld some time afterwards .
Of course not! How could I ever think that... I would also never suggest having a $10 bill with your name on it either... @bigred: I figured you'd like the idea haha.
@Nestor.... Oh well nice try mate ! Holy crap the vote has gone to 32% Kingturn vs 28% Gemini Rue. Gemini Rue is a good game but Kingturn deserves the win this week..... If you care at all pls vote people ! (GOTW thread I'm on about !)
I hope this game gets some front page love like G.Rue just has in the interests of fairness ragards the GOTW vote. It easily warrants the attention by anybody's standards.
OK, I've played a few scenarios now of Kingturn; here are my thoughts: 1. The interface is definitely better than Knighturn, but I'm annoyed that if I select one character then I have to hit "Cancel" before I can select a different character. Why not just let me switch to a different character by tapping on the new character? 2. The scenarios get pretty grindy because you don't make any progress by killing enemies; you're going to be up against the same number of foes for several turns whether you kill enemies or not. I guess, killing enemies helps to decrease the enemy summon probability (or whatever it's called), but it's still sort of unsatisfying. It doesn't feel like making progress. 3. It's odd that you can play a scenario and lose and keep the gold and items you found. Means that you could find yourself grinding quite a bit (can you open the same chest over and over in repeated plays?). 4. I don't like the chest mechanism, I still think that if I clear the field of all enemies I should be able to just walk around and open all of the chests afterward. But it's not a fatal flaw, just annoying.
The first few levels where I think u supposed to get Nicolette? I hit with an error of cannot find the character error message! Anyone got the same issue? When I proceed to the next scenario, where they met up Blanche I got the same error of cannot find Nicolette.. Any ideas?
@RinoaHeartily: We've got an email from another player who had the very same problem. After many hours of trying to reproduce the error, we've finally found the bug. It's a rarely occurring timing issue with in-game events which results in Nicolette not being added to the player's team properly. We've fixed this bug now, and the patch (version 2.01) is already waiting for Apple's review. I'm afraid you have to replay scenario 4 (of the main campaign) in order to get Nicolette on your team (otherwise you will run into problems with the following scenarios). I just hope you've done a manual save before scenario 4 . Should anyone else stumble upon this problem, here is a workaround to properly finish scenario 4 before the patch (version 2.01) is released: Just play through scenario 4 until you have defeated the last opponent. In case Nicolette doesn't show up in the final character dialog (or you see the error message 'ACTION_SET_POOL_FLAG Couldn't find character named Nicolette.') don't tap through the dialog. As long as the dialog is not finished, saving the automatic game progress stops right before you have dealt the final blow to the last enemy. Instead of tapping through the dialog, you just end the Kingturn app immediately (by pressing the home button once) and then terminate the Kingturn app (by pressing the home button twice and killing the Kingturn task). If you then restart Kingturn again, you can repeat the final blow against the last enemy, and Nicolette should show up and should be added to your party properly. I'm really sorry for the trouble. We've been trying hard to publish a game as flawless as possible, but this bug has obviously made it into the final release .
The current design enables the player to bash on his own units, which (if I understand you correctly) wouldn't be possible with your suggested design. While this is certainly not a very common thing to do, it can come in handy if one of the player's units is blocking the way (e.g. after the enemy turn). This freedom obviously comes with the price of a slightly clumsier interface, and it is certainly debatable whether it's worth it.
The result of the Prologue has indeed no impact on the Main Campaign. That's something I'm not very happy about myself. But it is quite difficult to change that now, due to the way this was implemented in Kingturn. For the remakes of Knighturn and Sw&Ear we've learnt our lesson, though, and have integrated the prologues into the corresponding main campaigns.
