Hmm. Right now the following hints are displayed for the cave scenario if you lose or retreat:

    1) Block the way of the Elite Death Knight to keep him in his corner.
    2) Come back later with stronger and better equipped units.

I would have thought that hint number 2 says pretty much what you've suggested right now, but maybe I'm wrong.

Do you have an idea for a better wording?
We'll gladly give all the help to new players we can.

    Finally, a good game!

After wasting money on a string of shallow crap (most of it with the word 'dungeon' in the title), it's nice to play a game with some meat on it's bones. Kingturn rules!

Got another question for my fellow players:
Do you specialise units, or do you keep them generalised?

For example, I have one Fighter that is decked out as tank, with my best +hp ring, best armor, etc. My Bandit Archers focus on SP, to get more Legshots off. And so on.

And you folks are way ahead of me, did not see the cave scenario yet.
Still fighting the 2nd Treasure Map, which is a good place to level up a bit, by the way. Did anyone beat on first try?
I estimate I will need at least 5 or 6, currently at my second run through it.

I've played this about 8 hours now. It's a good game. It's worth the $5. The story line is good and the play mechanics are new and interesting. But I'd still place it behind a few other srpg's. customization is what's really lacking in this one. The number of classes is great. But they all progress the same way. I thought gear would help. But each class really only has 2 options for each slot.

There was this little $2 game that came out a couple years ago called tactical warrior. Awful graphics, virtually no storyline or added mechanics. But customization was great -- skill "trees," gear options. Maybe I'm just a sucker for team composition. But the spectrum available to games like that are what put them on a different level for me.

What I did was, bring all of my units right down the screen to surround the knight (even the ranged ones) on my first move, and then go at him. What this achieved was, it put my units out of range of most other enemies for the first turn or two, which gave me a large enough jump on them to defeat the knight before refocusing my attention.

Iirc I pinned the death knight in to the bottom center segment with the paladin at the start of the map and used ranged attacks while she healed when it was convenient. Paladin held her own for a while so I could dispose of others.

I pinned him in position with a summoned unit and used Paladin to heal the summoned unit for a few rounds in a similar way to this. Took ages to kill him like this though but got the job done.

I think explicitly indicating that side missions are sometimes more difficult than the main quest would be helpful, yes.

You guys are mentioning having a paladin during that mission. I don't have one yet. When is it obtained?

The Paladin Blanche is available at the beginning of scenario 3.
It's just the other mission that is available on the map after defeating the wolves in the forest.

I was having issues with the first side quest too (at the Strategist level) until I moved on with the Prologue and got Blanche. She makes a huge difference on that side quest.

I just finished the Prologue and am about to unlock the full game. I read earlier that I will have to go to "start new campaign" once I have paid, does that mean the progress from the Prologue doesn't transfer over?

You guys are a bunch of lightweights struggling your way through the prologue ;)
    Mild plot spoilers:
You start the main campaign with a party of different characters on an intersecting tale so it wasn't clear to me if progress was retained
by the time I found the prologue characters I was just as invested in my new crew so it wasn't obvious if transfer occurred or not.

    Treasure Map 2 Update

Went better than I expected, only took 3 tries to finish it.
Om default difficulty, slowly burning down the respawn counter was key to success.

Rewards: More levels for my units, and some much better equipment, e.g. two Rune Falchion swords that are better than anything I can buy.

Off to Treasure 3, giving that a try.

    And question to Niebau:
Is the loot from special characters randomised too, or predetermined? E.g. does the Forest Witch you encounter always give you that nice spear (I think it was)?

I know that SRPG is kind of a niche genre but the small amount AppStore reviews on the UK this has is poor - they are all 5 star but there is only a few. If there's anyone here that is enjoying this bit hasn't reviewed it on the AppStore then take the time please !

My motive for encouraging you is that I want it to be worthwhile for the dev to port the other games from Android and also be able to create new titles...

Also ... Where is the front page love for this game ? It is a jewel amongst a sea of crap in the AppStore and deserves attention !

The US AppStore is pretty much the same. Only a handful of reviews so far, all of them 5 stars. I just added my 2ยข on there. ;)

Do people still write reviews on the App Store? I used to do so long ago, based on the assumption that the developers were monitoring the reviews, but as bugs went unpatched and feature requests were ignored, I stopped.

Nowadays, I just check out the App Store reviews to see if anyone else had come across any app breaking bugs so bad that I should avoid that app. For impressions and recommendations, there are forums like this Touch Arcade forum, and the various sites covering iOS games, like Touch Arcade and Board Game Geek...

The reason for reviews, or at least to rate the game, is that they play a big role in what other people buy, so if you want your favorite types of games to get more love on the App Store and more interest from developers, you'd better rate them up.

I sometimes forget about the App Store reviews too, touch arcade and a few other sites are much better for game info. Your're right though, every little bit helps to promote great games like kingturn. Gonna go write a review now :)

If a Summoner calls a pet and that summoned pet kills an enemy does the Summoner collect experience points for the kill?

I depend on reviews many times; even coverage/discussion on Touch Arcade can be really biased (they rarely even cover RPGs). I was curious to see how Kingturn would fare because sometimes free apps are at the mercy of one star reviews from bored kids or people who don't care to understand a game but so far on US store it's doing great; further evidence of Kingturn's awesomeness.
