@niebau: Not iCloud support, but interesting for making offline backups: If you are interested, get in touch with the developers of The Quest (www.redshift.hu, I think). They implemented a solution to backup the savegames, directly integrated into iTunes. No idea how they did that. Before I saw it, I did not even know this was possible (aka "allowed by Apple). Still surprises me that noone else seems to use this.
Maybe it's just me but I'd rather see Kingturn Plus sooner than iCloud support for (just) Kingturn. Bring on more content.
Great game ! ...but I bought it and have a problem ... I reached the scenario requiring the IAP unlock so I happily went to the main menu to buy it. In the middle of my purchase a notification tray item popped and I mistakenly got taken to a new app. Then the password confirmation appeared to confirm my IAP of the Kingturn game so I went ahead and confirmed the purchase. I went back to Kingturn, the main menu no longer has the option to pay, apple has charged me $4.99 but when I try to play my save file it tells me "You need the full version which can be purchased from the main menu...."... So I'm stuck ! So if anyone can help: 1. Ideally does anyone have a solution to retain my save file while getting the unlocked game I've paid for 2. Or failing that, will deleting the game and losing my save file solve the problem? Thanks and once again - great game!
The text you got is a known issue (it's too vague and doesn't acknowledge purchase was successful, as yours likely was), if I recall correctly. The full game content is in a separate campaign so you will have to start a "New Game" with full material, called Knights of Andaria. Unfortunately your prologue team doesn't carry over... but the full material begins with new characters on a parallel path anyway. Enjoy Kingturn, it is a great game. The developer stated that in future Kingturn installments (coming soon) the prologue material will carry over. Did that work for you?
Really sorry for the confusion. You are not the only one who misunderstood this obviously very poorly worded in-game notification. We've got more than 10 emails with the very same question. Our first Kingturn patch (v. 2.01) has been released a few minutes ago, and among other things we have changed this in-game notification to: End of the prologue. The story continues in the main campaign 'Knights of Andaria'. You need the full version which can be purchased from the main menu. After the purchase, exit to the main menu and tap on New campaign to start 'Knights of Andaria'. I hope this new notification makes it more clear now how to proceed after the inapp-purchase. @undeadcow: Thanks for jumping in and answering the question. Nothing to add there.
The patch is available for download now. @Sheinfell: I'm curious to know whether the newly added fast scrolling (based on your suggestion) comes close to what you had in mind.
Update available now ! Can't wait to try it. Long live Kingturn. Looking forward to making battles extra tense with perma-death for characters per scenario (optional)
Me too +1 for more content. niebau wrote this stuff even though English is not his mother tongue (he had help with translation and localisation from a passionate Android user) I happen to know ! But despite this the plot is witty, engaging and I feel all the connection to the characters that i do with a well written play or novel. I actually enquired if this was based on a published work earlier in the thread only to find that niebau is entirely responsible. Awesome work thanks
Finally got around to playing the prologue. Pretty cool game. Not sure if it would keep me engaged for too long Debating the full version. Is there an easy way to navigate the item equipping, I find it sort of confusing. I noticed an optimize button. Does that optimize everyone or just the person you are on?
There is an Optimize button in the "Unused equipment" screen that optimizes all characters. Of course, different people can disagree on what is optimal.
The Optimize button on a character sheet only optimizes the equipment of the currently selected character. If you tap on the question mark in the Ally Camp, there is a menu item called 'Manage unused items', though. There you find a list of all unequipped items and an 'Optimize all' button which optimizes the equipment of all characters in one go. I guess the confusing part is this: Unlike other games, Kingturn doesn't offer an overview of all items (equipped + unequipped). If you tap on an item in a character's inventory, for example, only those items are listed that can be equipped by the character. I would recommend having a brief look at the PDF tutorial.
Seconded. Whether a particular equipment setup can be considered as 'optimal' is rather situational. Two examples: 1) Which weapon has the higher damage output? - Atk +3 Holy damage (holy damage ignores defense values) - Atk +8 Phy damage weapon. Answer: It depends on the (physical defense values of the) opponents you are fighting. 2) Is it better to use a Pow+3 ring or an Atk+3 ring for a Bandit? Answer: It depends on how you are mainly using the unit. Pow improves the First Aid skill while Atk increases the damage output. Edited note: So the best thing we can do is to support the setup chosen by the player. We tried to achieve this with the following 'Optimize all' algorithm: a) The list of characters is traversed once and 'Optimize' is applied to the characters one by one. The order depends on the sort order chosen in the barracks, so the characters at the top of the list get the best equipment b) Legendary items are never replaced by 'Optimize all' c) There are a few constraints which item types can be replaced by other ones. A few examples: - An Atk +3 ring is replaced by and Atk +5 ring - A Pow +3 ring is not replaced by an Atk +5 ring - A HP +10 amulet is replaced by a HP +10 SP +10 amulet - A HP +10 amulet is not replaced by a HP +9 SP +9 amulet
Updating now; bring on permenant knockdown option! That should makes skirmishes that much more interesting.
Thanks Niebau and undeadcow. You are completely correct. Glad I didn't delete the whole game and rerun the prologue !
The fast scrolling works nice, but it is a bit counterintuitive. Not that I want to generate more work for you, but it would be better if you could touch the "marker" on the scrollbar and move it up/down for fast scrolling. The way it works now (touch the scrollbar anywhere but the marker) is a bit too nerdy Not sure if people will figure that out easily. And - if you did not do so - maybe you should include a mention of that somewhere.
No problems as far as I've seen. It definitely fixes the missing characters bug - the one that affected my game pre-patch.
Updated Reply: After giving it some more thoughts, I think your judgement has been better than mine. While our fast scrolling introduced with version 2.01 might have its own merits, it is certainly not better than the 'standard' scroll bar behavior (dragging the slider). We will change the scrolling mechanism accordingly for the next patch 2.02. Sometimes developers should just listen to their players . Original reply: I see your point and it is quite likely not very intuitive. On the other hand, moving your finger slightly to the left or right (if it is close to the scrollbar) switches from slow to fast scrolling and vice versa. I think this is quite convenient once players understand how it works. The more common approach with dragging the scroll slider would require changing the scroll direction, which is a little awkward as well. I guess the main problem with the current implementation is the way the scroll bar is visualized (like a 'standard' scroll bar). Maybe it's worth thinking about a different form of visualization.
Switched perma-knockout on. It certainly adds a certain tension and has changed my approach considerably. It makes me wonder if an actual permadeath hardcore mode where you lose characters for the whole game rather than just the scenario would be fun ? The story could change depending on who survives etc. maybe in a future sequal ?
