why not? There are loads of kids around the world who would love to play kingdom rush frontiers for free, cuz they cant buy anything.
If the kids or their parents can afford an iDevice, why wouldn't they afford to spend an extra couple of bucks to support the devs on the release on this game?
because most kids like me dont have an iDevice and would love to play it on the internet, like on armorgames.com or kongregate.com
So, what you are asking for is not for the iOS version to be free (which your intial question indicated), but for a flash/browser version? If there is one, I think it's a reasonable assumption that it will be free. The original began its life as a flash game, but now that Ironhide are selling on App Stores, perhaps they will not give as much priority to a less or non-profitable browser version.
The first Kingdom Rush was first made by Flash and it was awesome, so hopefully Kingdom Rush: Frontiers will be made by Flash too.

Wow! Thanks for sharing! I would've preferred heroes to be unlocked in some way by doing well in the game, not purchased. But oh well, looking forward to it regardless!
