I don't believe so. Why would they? It might go free for a day eventually, I wouldn't think anytime soon though.
To the people waiting for more levels... Are you kidding? LOL after how long we had to wait for updates to the first game, never mind the sequel? I played the entire first game from scratch again before even trying KRF, I don't know if anything was ever 'tuned' for items but holy crap there are some pretty serious challenges just to get all five stars on 'normal'. Strangely enough, I was sure that in the first game choosing to play on 'easy' meant you wouldn't get any stars. I must have just been convinced that this is how it should be. KRF is a ton of fun, the cost of the extra heroes is pretty sassy, though. Either way, I will never use an item, these games feel like they are simply ruined with the use of ANY item from that store. I guess it was a money thing for the Dev but the bottom line is that using items defeats the entire purpose of playing the game in the first place.
That's exactly how I feel. I had beat the first game and deleted it. Then they updated it and I tried again from scratch and I'm stuck at 47 stars but I refuse to use any items. I think I have half that on frontiers and I'm stuck. I don't care if it takes over a year for each game because when I complete them it will be because I did it and didn't cheat. I will never understand how someone can pay for a game and find cheats or a guide to effortlessly complete it
Also I am going to add for no particular reason that by the time I got to it (again) I did 'Rotten Forest' on normal and three starred it (with 20 hearts of course) the first try and then proceeded to get the 4th and 5th heart in the next two games as well. That's HARDCORE if you ask me. I honestly can't tell if the first game was ever re-tuned for the item store, all I know is getting the Iron and Heroic on even a couple of the first few levels was always downright nasty and seemed to come down to a bit of luck in the end.
Okay... I *REALLY* want to believe that this whole game can be played without ever using a single item. Sadly, until someone links a YouTube video of them passing 'Dunes of Despair' on Iron Challenge with no items, I am having a crisis of faith. I have tried EVERYTHING to pass this level. There really isn't a lot of wiggle room to test whacky theories, either - you have barracks and archers, and a whack of pirate dens but I have tried using them and they seem like throwing money into the wind. There are only a few basic strats to this game - spread your damage out or focus it all in one place. On this map, you MUST take care of the bees. Other than that, all you have to do is keep anything else from walking offscreen. I have tried so many focalized defence nodes it isn't even funny. And just when you think you might be on top of things, oh hey here come some puppies to run right through everything! The big guys with swords seem to EAT pretty much anything one on one. Trying to wear the incoming hordes down with archer insanity does nothing. You have to stop the guys from walking around that last corner no matter what, and tower placement seems very, very obvious on this map. Please, someone tell me they have done the Iron on this map with no items. ps. Just tried for another 2 hours straight. Even when I get a very solid defense set in place it just isn't enough, and they walk through it. You can get archer towers up to max tits on the whole top lane and it doesn't matter. I would really love to hear that someone has done this level, I am running out of ideas.
Yeah that video is awesome but I have hit a wall at about 48 stars in Frontiers and I don't think I will be going any further without the sour taste in my mouth from using items. At this point I would have a lot of trouble believing that people are getting all 5 stars in anything past the 2nd level without items, it isn't about 'strategy' anymore when a solid mob of enemies is strolling through the exit no matter what ridiculous or insane ideas you come up with to stop them. Like I said, feel free to prove me wrong, someone...
Obvious cash grab in KRF is very disappointing. Levels are clearly balanced, if not to require IAP, to at least make it exceeding painful to advance without it, even on the normal levels. And before all of the "you just suck at the game" posts, I loved the original KR and played through the entire game in multiple ways (only archer, only mage, etc.), so I'm no KR noob. I get that IAP is here to stay and it may be the wave of the future, but I personally don't have to like it, or play games that use the model, and it sucks to see it happen to IP you love. Don't let anyone tell you any different. Take it from a KR vet, this game (KRF) is purposefully balanced to incentivize the average player (notice I said average player- not the hardcore min/maxer type- the average player like me, who has maybe 30-60 minutes a day to play games) to use IAP to advance. Fair warning.
Exactly. I did EVERYTHING yes, you heard right, EVERY POSSIBLE THING without the stupid cursed gems and s***ty consumables. I feel as strongly about them as [person that the quote comment is aimed at] but I use strategy over money. With some time and effort, you can too. If you want to magically beat the game in 30-60 min a day, it's not gonna happen FYI.
Okay, so anyone who claims you don't need items to pass levels, feel free to post a YouTube link of passing the third level iron challenge on normal. I have 49 stars in KRF playing 'pure no items' and I am sick of bashing my head against the obvious paywall. Oh, I have plenty of gems, but after the MASTERPIECE tuning of the first game it really sucks to think you have no choice but to drop some nukes or whatever to pass a level. It is akin to flicking on an aimbot in Counterstrike or something, it drains all fun out of the game and makes it meaningless to continue playing? Who needs perfect tower placement if you can just toss band aids at your weak strategies? Items should have NEVER been introduced to either of these games.
I just went and passed the third level iron challenge on normal without using items. I'm not uploading a video because I don't have unlimited bandwidth. You obviously don't really understand the enemy vs tower balance. I'm at 70/75 stars without items, and I'm saving the rest for when I have some time. So please stop whining. Multiple people have attested to the fact that there is no pay wall if played properly, deal with it.
this is what happens when you make everything casual. people have no idea how to play games anymore so the moment anything becomes even REMOTELY challenging they cry about it, ITS TOO HARD! THEY FORCE US TO BUY THINGS... no. you just aren't a good gamer. there's a huge difference. you are so used to games spoon feeding you that you are just used to it. i have not once in either KR games used any items or paid for any heroes. i have every star in the game. was it easy? hell no. impossible? hell no.
Ive used items to complete levels but I HAVENT PAID FOR THEM! Whether the gameplay is hinged on using items or not doesnt matter as long as you dont have to pay to use them! Some people.....(rolls eyes)
Kind of agree but I'm not sure if its from making games "casual". Many of us on TA are old school, many are more current gen gamers. What is confusing new and old gamers alike is not the level of skill required to beat a game but the option to take other routes to complete a game. This was not a previous option. Previously if you struggled to beat a game you just had to try harder or explore other avenues. In KR:F this is no different. However by making other avenues available some (including me at first) assume this is the only way forward due to the abundance of paywalls and IAPs border lining on criminality that saturate the Appstore. IMO all can be forgivin for thinking one way or the other considering the current gaming climate
