For my fighter I got up to about 300 battles before it dropped! Frustrating, but the feeling of satisfaction was still nice
.. Man I have some decent weapons and such but having a rough time beating the guys when I have a painting equipped I will keep on trucking though!
Those are super tough! Applecat may help.. You have to equip matching fighter as well, but can be Lv 1 - I used Lv 1 matching, Lv 9 Fighter, top Melee weapons, and 2 x +weapon hit
Buy the cursed cat, use it 128 times in battle and the next battle you win, you will receive the applecat. It doesn't do any damage, but it afflicts the enemy with poison dealing 10 damage for 20 turns. Most battles don't even last that many turns, so it basically deals 10 damage for the rest of the battle. Hit the enemy again with applecat, and now you got 20 damage per turn going. You can imagine how this can quickly add up If you are playing the game of going for cherries, then you can deal damage indirectly quite effectively.
I'm a little confused about the difference between regular and Super Chests - for example Secret Boss in Ch. 3, and Wooden Fun appear to drop the same if not better when opening regular chests. So if the best gear appears to drop using regular chests, why use Super Chest bonus gear?
I never really liked this game before. However, I started playing on the iPad to check out the update and I'm hooked. It's it's incredibly well-made in the art is fantastic. I'm starting to get into the mechanics a little bit more too. Can anyone explain the strategy behind the slot machine? Is there a way to set up hits or is it all luck? Maybe my eyes just arent fast enough. I started playing on hard and I guess it's just more of a grind but for some reason I like the challenge. Can't decide if it's all perceived or if there is some strategy involved. Either way it makes you feel like there is so that's a good thing. Oh, and the first secret room seems impossible on hard LOL
grits: You can definitely time the wheel to improve your chances of getting the desired results. I find that it's easiest to look for blocks of color; for example, a big block of "stuff" in the weapon wheel after several miss entries is easier to spot. Also, icons that stand out (dark ones, like the safe, or bright ones, like the cherries), are easier to see for me and often the ones that I focus on. I will usually let the reel spin several times at the start of a battle to get a feel for the contents.
So the wheels are not random? Each wheel it has a set number of items? Any idea how many? Just an idea but it would be cool if you could change equipment during the battle. This would add a nice element of strategy. Also a possibility that the enemy could change tactics or something. Just a thought.
Yeah I've seen this strange behavior with super chests too. Early tests were fine but maybe something broke along the way. I'll have to look into that.
So what are your guys set up for farming wooden fun 5? I'm having a tough time with it. Only getting lucky once in a while when enough crits happen. For me the best setup I've found is diamond shotgun, loaded m4, and the loaded m60. 2 weapon hit rates, and then just hope I get enough splash damage. Worst part is the loot is horrible. Nothing like beating it several times and only getting bronze player hit increase. Or other stuff worth only a few hundred gold.
Starting with Lv 9 cherries and luck, it'll depend on your fighter specialism, but I've been using lv 9 Fighter with: - 2 x Superior Spiked Flail (69 | 5 | 20% chance of chest) - Diamond Handsaw - King Painting - 2 x Mele Weapons Hit Rate++ Even with this setup I'm winning 50% of the time roughly, but with 6-10 chests -------------------------------------- The hit rate bonus and flail are reasonably rare drops - To get to that point I found it easiest to go with the following setup, one drop at a time: Lv 9 Tamer, Cherries and Luck, - Applecat - Diamond Dog - Best other animal (Ferocious Eagle - 67/5/10% bonus exp) This setup definitely will drop some very nice gear if you're happy to farm it - General rule for me is to be under 1000HP when I hit 12 cherries. If I haven't by that time, start again!
What enemy do you farm, and what bonuses are you using? I've been farming the second to last enemy of the chapter and haven't turned up anything of much use
Mostly Wooden Fun 5 - Bonuses are in my build above I did try farming the Super Secret Plant as well - Gigantic pain to kill though, not as good drops.. did manage to Gold star though!
Hmm, I may not be up on the lingo. Which enemy is Wooden Fun 5? I'm only missing 2 gold stars for the level (last boss and super secret plant) and I'm trying to finish the lovers paintings and finding better bonuses
Here's a hint, you'll need some paintings.. check out the Tips in Chapter 4 for more. For the plant, use +enemy in the reels, and a +enemy potion - The added enemies aren't weapon / fighter breakers! Here's a photo of some farming action (yes, I farm using the King)
my farming setup for farming i currently use this setup: superior dan4-h3 (robot 20% chance golden chest) loaded dual magnum (20% chance chest) applecat bonus: animal hit rate++ animal hit rate++ party: fighter lvl 7 gunner lvl 5 cyborg lvl 5 luck lvl 9 cherry lvl 9 At this stage it would make sense to do a respec and move the fighter levels to the gunner and cyborg, since these give higher bonuses with good gear. still not winning every time, would be nice to replace the applecat if I get a better weapon (would free up the bonus slots) some nice items I have found: Spoiler loaded rocket launcer (77 pw 3 hr +11 spash damage) ferocious capybara (62 pw 3 hr + 9x4 poison damage) double cherry high chance of more level loot
I don't know how all of you guys got the king's painting....I'm still trying to get paintings with little success
